We play a .10/.25 home game with some pretty decent players that usually play $1-$2. Here is a hand that I ran in to.

I raise with Q10 pre to .85 in MP
Folds to BB who calls.
Hero has $30 eff stack villain has about $22

Flop: 3 4 Q
Villian leads out $1.50
I call
Turn: 9
Villian checks.
-I feel like that the check is super weak from this player and he is giving up. I bet $3.
I get CR'd to $12.
I almost snap call because why get a player to fold if he has the best of it with a CR on the turn? If he has the nuts why risk losing a bet on the river? With all this going on in my head, I call.
River is A.
Villian immediately shoves and I tank call after convincing myself that he hit the ace.
He flips over A7

I was blind sided pretty badly. And I was convinced he had two pair. What do you guys think of his play on the turn? That is where I was convinced my hand was good.

He suckered you in on the turn. With the nuts and a hand that is very likely unbreakable on a now scary board, the turn check to feign some weakness is a good play sometimes. When you bet he raises, in case you have a high enough flush to play along or a set/two pair that might draw out on him, plus he needs to inflate the pot if he wants to shove river.

The river depends on history between the two of you, but shoving two pair is a bluff here once there are 4 diamonds on board. It is the obvious move once you call the check/raise to $12 though. He has the nuts and your not likely betting behind after the turn check/raise.

I can hardly understand what you are saying here, because it makes so little sense.

Fold turn, he's bluffing here very rarely. EZ game.

What 2 pair does villain have on that board?

Why would villain check/raise 2 pair on the turn and then lead the river on a 4 flush board if he isn't the worst player in your game?

Why would villain raise turn after you raised pre, called flop, and bet turn? You should have a high diamond in hand a lot of the time. He's expecting you to call. He checked turn because he had the ace and he figured you might fold if he bets there, whereas you may bet it for him.

Why would you ever shove the turn here?

Why are you posting a hand from a home game and posting no read on the villain?

And yes the turn is generally a check, that bet folds out basically everything you beat unless he is a station.

quad, rumor, and slim. thanks for the feedback. Rumor- sorry if the post is a hard read, I'm still getting accustomed to posting strategy on here in an appropriate fashion. if you have any tips to help on clarity I would appreciate a pm or a link to some hands you consider posted in an exceptional fashion, I came here to learn.

the villain is a tricky player that does over play bluffs, so I thought I may have caught him, hence my surprised reaction to seeing the nuts. when I read y'all's feedback it cleared it up pretty quickly lol. thanks dudes.
