Hi all,
I consider myself as Loose-Tight Aggressive Player (More than TAG) at 1- 2 games and I find that this style fit me and I am usually profitable playing this style.
However, I notice that I frequently run into problems when I sit at a table where there is a villain that raises to $5 or $6 preflops about 60-70% of the time. I noticed a couple of problems that I run into.
1) I found myself focusing on this one villian too much and expending too much energy trying to win hands against him and sometimes making mistake against others.
2) I would re-raise the $5 to $25-35 and win most of the flops. However, during the course of the game, I will make a mistake and lose a big pot against this type of villain usually the form of villain hitting flush draw and I don't think he had the flush.
3) Also, I notice that I am more tired playing in this games than other games I guess because I have to think too much preflop about the $5 raise to see if the villian actually holding a good hand.
How do you people counter against this $5 prelfop raising?
Thanks

Just consider it a limp and do what you would have done anyway.
It's not the $5ness, its the 60-70%VIPness, that makes this the right answer. Basically, this guy is a LP player who has been convinced to never limp, so he does this instead. Every once in a while it will conceal a premium, but his range disadvantage is huge since he is so wide.

His preflop raise is meaningless so just treat it as a straddle and raise the stakes. It's not a 1/3 game with him it's a 2/5 game. Open to $20 and play accordingly.
Also I love the LTAG description

The old school term is sLAG (slightly loose aggressive).
1). Start trying to win money, not hands.
2). If he calls on the flop, he has a good hand or a draw. Stop paying him off.
3). Play less hands and toughen up.
