5/50 pesos game in the Philippines (.5/1 USD).

Villain has been at the table for about 2 hours but I don't remember any specific hands he's shown down. He has been raising infrequently and seeing a fair share of limped pots but not splashing around too much. He seems to bet for value although like I said I don't remember any specific hands from him.

Kind of off topic, but a leak of mine seems to be forgetting what villains show down. I pay attention to the action and note showdowns, but seem to forget especially in the moment. Do you guys take notes on your phone to remember action / specific hands that you're not involved in to get reads on villains?

Anyways to the action. I limp 88 in MP after 2 limpers and we see a flop 7 way. I'm third last to act and villain is on the button. Villain has about 6200 and I cover.

Flop (350) 5 8 T

Checks to me and I bet 300 and get called by villain on button and SB

Turn (1250) 5 8 T 6

Checks to me and I bet 900 villain calls on button, SB folds

River (3050) 5 8 T 6 6

Villain has 5000 left, what's the best line here against his range? Spoilers contain my decision/reasoning.

Spoiler:
I decided to check in this spot. I think he raises 79 a decent amount on the turn so I assume he doesn't have a straight here. I think he'd probably fold a T unless I underbet the pot significantly. I thought at the time that he doesn't raise a flush here if I lead, but he'd definitely bet one if checked to as my line looks like AT, etc. I thought he'd be somewhat likely to call a CR with a flush as players really don't like to fold big hands (even if they're bluffcatchers). So I decided to check raise here even though I probably lose value from Tx/maybe 56 as I thought his range had a lot of flushes.

I check, he bets 800 and I raise to 3000. Thoughts on sizing? If he's calling 3000 is he calling a shove? Or do I let him get away from a flush if I shove here? I wasn't really sure and wanted to err on the side of caution and try to insure a call from a flush.

Hate checking

Extra hate for not shipping as the river raise, the whole point of checking is so you can shove.

I'm shoving here and praying he has diamonds.

Interesting, I didn't think of overbetting the river at the time, but I can see the merit to it.

1) It's very unusual, so probably would look more bluffy
2) If he's calling a check raise with a flush he's probably calling an overheat
3) Maybe he can level himself into calling with 56? Or 79 that he flatted the turn with?

Yeah you're probably right that check shipping is better than check raising small. I wasn't really sure at the time, but in hindsight he's probably not laying a flush down.

(original post should say 25/50 pesos not 5/50)
