Funny part is the OMC may fold to the river shove anyways and may have thrown the $5 blocker bet specifically for that reason (because he didn't want to call it off with the over card out there). It sucks that you'll never know but flatting turn in position for that sizing I think is fine. It should be easy to get the rest OTR since he has so little behind. Already commented above that the river jam was my preference and JJ was in his range.

At the end of the day we are crying over less than 15 BB in missed value. Every BB helps but this isn't doomsday.

This board is awful to check back. If you can’t see the turn card possibilities that can crush your hand or make you second guess your hand then don’t have FPS by checking. If 68s is in one of the villain’s ranges, then there are 6 cards that can complete a straight ( with 8 outs each) if you also factor an A as being a bad card that makes half the deck bad for you
Bet this flop hard as you look FOS and will get called wife here
Also you have it backwards with balancing your range. AK is a hand you want folds with when betting flop. So balance betting those hands with your monsters when you have it

I don't necessarily think this is true, but if you're gonna do it, never do it with KK. Save that for AA. Also, save that for hands that aren't 50BBs effective. (Edit: 25BBs with the straddle! FFS just bet flop).

And it's more relevant on wet boards, not dry boards. Dry boards with a T or above on them should be c-bet by all broadway overcard hands so you are safe to always c-bet AA/KK too.

As played, I would just jam the turn. Make him think you're ffs.
