Underbets are driving me nuts Underbets are driving me nuts

Sorry for a general question but it's lately an unfortunate theme with me.

$1/$2, $200 effective. A raised pot, multi-way, usually 3-way. I have a strong ace and miss the flop. Villain makes a very small flop bet such as 1/3 of the pot. For example $15 into $40. Something triggers in me and I re-raise him to $40 even though I have complete air.

So it goes weak-flop bet, I re-raise and opponent shoves on me and I have to fold. Same thing can happen on the turn. I see small bets as weakness and something drives me to pounce on them with complete air. And I keep doing it.

Maybe it's a psychological issue?

I have played live $1/2 as a PT serious rec player for last two yrs now and I can say generally speaking most $1/2 players do not bet enough in relation to the pot. However, that being said, just because someone bets 1/3 pot or less, it doesn't always mean they are weak. My guess is in those instances you are running into the top of villains range, (sets and overpairs to board). As always need to pick your spots and fire on coordinated/scary boards.

Stop doing it. If you can't, quit poker.
