Obv this is my first time posting.....and I'm not exactly sure if this should be posted here.......

I play regularly in a rotating $1-$2 or $2-$5 home game. Different location every night, same people. This entire summer, this one dude in the game has won 200-1000 almost every single time that he plays, usually 3-4 times a week. I'm not even exaggerating....I've seen him break even once, win $40 once, and lose $40 once. Prior to this summer, i really wouldnt see him win too often. I play almost every night and can't seem to find much balance. Anyways, well my question is: Is it possible for someone to win that much money that consistently? I have a feeling I'm being sandbagged...I know the guy is a good player, but I don't think he's really that good to have that kind of a win rate.

They're dealing from the bottom of the deck

I've watched that. The dealer uses a cut card

Maybe he learned the game? The fact that you can't figure out whether he's shady makes me think you aren't too good yourself or don't pay attention at all. To answer the question properly, I barely ever have losing sessions at 2-20NL which is the range of stakes player toughness matches your live game. So it's possible but try to follow his game and see what holdings he has when he wins and how he played the hands. If it makes sense don't think about his "cheating", think more about improving your own game.

Well if he calls down with weak holdings versus someone that looks really strong in a spot and you have no history of that player having bluff tendencies then after showdown ask the dealer to inspect the cards. But be prepared to come off as a complete ******* and 99% of the time you'll be wrong.

He's really aggressive. Almost always raising. I never really see him call people down with weak hands. But anytime I do see his cards it's almost always he nuts.

I think you just answered your own question. Live players are donks, he's a TAG who ectracts the fat value. Nothing more to it, learn to play TAG and then learn to play optimally versus him, even if that means playing unexploitably vs him. Just keep mind on killing fishies and don't count others' money.

no one's unbeatable. he's on a heater. that said, the game can be beaten by not spewing, not bluffing too much, not hero calling too much. wait for a hand and get paid.

someone posted this in one of my threads: our advantage over our opponents is our ability to fold.
