Turned straight on flush board - go for it? Turned straight on flush board - go for it?

1/2 at local cardroom (see https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/1...-nits-1760762/ for full description).

Table is full of nits (as usual). No one puts money in without a hand, except me. I raise with a much wider range than everyone else. V is a an older white guy, probably around 60. He hasn't been at the table long and hasn't raised once, so I'm sure he's another nit. V has about $140, I cover with about $250.

I open to $10 in MP with A 4. I get a caller in LP and V calls in the big blind.

Flop ($30): 9 5 2. I flop a gutter and a BDFD. I bet $20 and everyone but V folds.

Turn ($70): 3. Hit the straight, but there are now 3 spades on the board. V checks and I bet $40. V calls.

River ($150): K. V checks a third time, I put him all-in for his remaining chips, which is about $60 or $70.

Thoughts?

(no GG, I'm not limping in pre)

Edit: V probably views me as overly aggressive, and these player types like to go into calldown mode against me more often than against average 1/2 players.

Yeah, this seems super standard at these stack depths

I agree this looks standard postflop for this amount of money.

I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but one trick I like to use in these situations where I have a medium-strength hand is to pretend I have a hand one rank higher/lower and evaluate. For example, what if I had a baby flush here? It’s basically the same relative strength as our straight, but (IMO) makes it clearer that we should just go with it.

Or if the board pairs and I have bottom boat, how would I play the nut flush? etc
