Main villain BB is a huge fish. Playing nearly every hand, limp calling most hands and bet/raising top 30% of hands.

Hero opens $15 Utg A♦️J♦️. Four callers including short stack on BTN, and BB.
$75 K♦️5♦️4♣️
BB leads $40, hero calls, CO calls, BTN all in for $83 (reopening action), BB $140...
WTF to do... $100 to call. There is ~375 in the pot so getting almost 4:1... hero calls, CO folds.
~475 pot, split with ~120 in side pot.
Turn bricks. BB freezes... fumbles with chips, NFI what to do... checks.
Hero has ~ 200 behind. Hero?

As played I think this is a pretty clear check back on the turn. He didn’t raise the flop to 140 to fold a brick turn for 200.

You're in for that 200 anyway. Like, if V had instead jammed the 200 on turn, you're getting like 4 to 1 and the same equation applies, you kind of have to call. So the reason you should jam the flop is that you're always allin on any turn, but V isn't. If the turn is the flush, it's actually pretty clear for him to check fold a lot of hands. To continue on the flop you must either have had a strong hand, maybe stronger than his, or a draw, which you've now presumably hit. So anyway, if you're committed already OTF and he isn't, commit him straightaway. "High variance" isn't a criticism of a line

Edit: Oh and as played, OTT it seems pretty clear to check behind, it's hard for it to make sense to bet when the vast bulk of the pot is protected.

your first call is fine - but once you face a back raise you need to jam the flop. Hopefully someone else calls too.

Is it 1/3? I assumed it was about a buyin. Even if 1/2 whatever. Your read is bb is huge fish. He can have 67, worse fd, any garbage and with extra money it's just +ev to gii

I gii on the flop. As played, I probably just shove turn, but I can get behind a check to see a free card. Just not sure you'll get paid if you hit, which would be awful.

Thanks. I think flop shove is better than leaving $200 behind.
Left me in an awkward spot where when I check most times I miss my draw. And I saw him physically freeze up and check and think he just gets it in on the turn with a strong hand.
I shoved thinking villain would fold enough. He complained/tank called with K7o, river bricked. Yuck

1/3? how many players? typically I'm folding AJ utg 9+ handed but I'm a nit and prefer to grab the easy cash playing behind...

Next time put stacks at the beginning so we have a better handle of this.

I just limp preflop because I don't think we want a bloated pot OOP which a smaller SPR with this hand.

Depending on stacks, there's a pretty decent argument for just shipping the flop when the BB donks. We have the nut flush draw, an over and two backdoor straight draws, so decent equity overall, plus some FE (although in position we'd have a much better idea of what everyone else is doing, hence why preflop is meh, imo). With smallish stacks I'd ship, with bigger ones I'm cool with flatting. As played facing all the action, it looks like we're getting the odds to call (and hopefully CO will pad the pot behind us).

In a mostly protected pot against a fish who only has 1/3 PSB left (he ain't ever folding) I happily take my free card on the turn.

ETA: I think jamming to the flop action is pretty meh. First off, it almost always eliminates CO from coming along (and we want him to). Second of all, a fish bet/3bet/folds the flop exactly 0% of the time. Third, a fish will sometimes allow us to realize our equity for free (such as he did here).

ya don't fold AJ suited UTG but your raise size is too big of it's 1/3 and fine if you are playing 2/5
