Turn Raising Range Question Turn Raising Range Question

Move this if it belongs elsewhere.

I play exclusively 1/2 live currently but I plan to move to 2/5 soon. I've realized I don't really have a turn raise range except when a draw completes or when I just called with a made hand on the flop.

The games I play have a lot of calling stations so I typically have the initiative and when my opponent is the one betting they will usually be too sticky for me to want to bluff raise often.

What are some good turn raising situation that could balance my range when I move to better games? I pretty much raise all my two pair hands on the flop and usually sets as well. I also typically raise flush draws that have no showdown equity.

I'm having trouble finding hands that call the flop and then raise as a bluff on the turn. Maybe when I have a blocker to the nuts.

Any advice or scenarios would be appreciated.

You raise the turn for value or you raise the turn as a bluff. If you're playing in sticky games then you shouldn't be raising the turn as a bluff when you don't have a decent amount of fold equity. Sticky games are all about going to value town.

As far as those situations where bluffs may work, this may be a situation here where your focus is too much on your own turn raising range rather than you focusing on your opponent's range and when you have fold equity against their range to exploit them. Your own range is still important for the times where your bluff doesn't get through, as you'd like to have some equity for when they look you up, but manipulating the action based on their range is just as important.

Shoving turns that give you a draw and also scare/do not hit villain's range is pretty tough to play against. They have to be able to fold though, maybe try it against hoodie kids or players who have bet and folded to a raise before.

Stop auto raising flopped sets, especially multiway or on dry-ish boards. You can get more money in by waiting until the turn.
