1/2

Hero: Playing TAG, stack about $425.
Villain: Playing TAG, raises as first one in often, a bit more than the average player. Otherwise playing normally, not too tight, not too lose. About regular aggression post flop. Stack ~$300.

Hero dealt QJo in the cutoff.

EP raises to $7, villain calls in MP, I call, and the BB calls.

Flop: Qd-Qs-10d ($29)

Check and villain bets $3. He immediately says 'I thought I grabbed three red chips and meant to bet $15.' Think he's being honest here as he has been making regular bets so far.

I raise to $20, other players fold and villain repops to $55. I call.

Turn: Qd-Qs-10d-9c ($139)

Villain shoves ~$235. Hero?

I'm calling.

He could be interpreting your raise as just attacking his $3 bet. It's a strange line to 3 bet a Q from his spot. He also might be thinking the same thing that a Q is not in your range since you raised the flop.

Fold preflop

Against an EP open, you should be folding AQ and under. You should be 3bet squeezing to $30 with a range of {JJ+, AK} and you should only be flatting 77-TT and maybe some good suited connectors like T9s-KQs.

As played, fold to the flop 3bet and definitely fold to the turn jam.

This is ok as a starting point vs unknowns. But can definitely change based on stack sizes and who's the one raising in EP. Also if you have a couple callers in between I think you can definitely add more hands from the button especially.

Original ep raiser had ~$300 here, didn't specify that but are we really folding QJo to an ep raise considering we're in CO and will probably have last position for the deal?

QJo is a horrible hand to go multiway here because of the reverse implied odds.

I'd rather see you flat with A3s, 86s or 22 if you insist on widening your flatting range. At least those hands have implied odds and not reverse implied odds.

You bet and called flop like you have a queen, and he raised the flop and shoved the turn anyway, which seems like a suicidal thing to do with a worse hand than yours. Food for thought.
