$1/2 - H button straddled to $4 and has been straddling every button for ~1/5 hrs.

V ($300) in BB. Loose passive player. I assume he's a reg who plays passive ABC poker but I don't know the guy. This is a Friday day game and I don't know most of the day regs.

H ($350) on BTN. LAG, but not maniac. Table hasn't been pushing back too much but I believe one or two of the semi-thinkers at the table are beginning to take notice, potentially including V.

BB calls, 2 MP's call, H catches AKo on the BTN straddle, raises to $29, on V in BB calls.

Flop ($62)
KJ5r
V checks, H bets $23 (at these games often times absolute bet sizes seem to dictate action more than pot-based sizing, makes for weird play sometimes).
V calls relatively easily.

Turn ($108)
KJ5r 9
V checks, H bets $42 (assume I'm good here and attempting to continue to get value from weaker V holdings). V c/r's to $120. Hero? Mostly worried about KJ and Q10, but sets are in play as well. I'd definitely call if there were no more action on the river but I don't really love the spot assuming V likely leads on the river if I flat. Thoughts?

Button straddles aren't allowed in my games, but I hear they're bad b/c it gets the blinds to play tighter... but anyways

I think the turn is a pretty easy fold. Can't recall the last time a passive reg put in a turn raise that wasn't 2p+. Beluga & all that. My turn sizing would have been a bit larger, ~$60.

Fold.

Given our initial read that he is a passive reg, I think we need to stick with that read until we have evidence otherwise. Its just not that easy for these guys to c/r half their stack with a worse hand.

I would prefer a 2/3 pot bet on the flop and a check back for pot control on the turn. We would have a much better idea where we stand in the hand and we might even get more value on the river.

Man I agree with Nogyong on all the threads lol. Just wanted to add a thought concerning button straddle play. I button straddle a lot in my games and my recommendation is to bet much larger if you flop strongly. People refuse to believe pf raises from button straddle mean a hand (for good reason) so when you bet out on a flop it rarely gets respect. Size up to 70%-full pot and make em pay. I like checking behind turn on 1p hands but when you flop 2pair+ the larger flop bet will allow you to build the pot to literally twice the size by showdown.

H flatted the turn raise, River was a brick, went c/c and V showed A10 and MHIG.

Seems like he might not be as passive as we thought. How had he been reacting to your button straddle on his BB? People do weird things in straddled pots sometimes. Especially if they arent used to it or are in the blinds on Button straddles.

Also just bet bigger OTF. If hes calling 23 hes going to call 40 and we dont have a strong enough hand to try to induce something against this villain
