I don't have a hand converter so bear with me.
Villain is a young competent looking player but hey we're playing 1-2 at PH so I can't assume that. I've only been at the table for 10 minutes so I haven't observed much. He has a pretty big stack for this game ($500).

Villain: $500
Button: $220
Hero: $270

PRE
: Villain opens to $12 from one off the button. Unknown on BU calls. Hero wakes up with AK in the SB. Hero calls.

FLOP ($38) :
AT6 - Hero checks to the raiser. He bets $16, BU calls and I raise to $40. Villain calls, BU folds.

TURN ($134): 8 - Hero?

I'll post the river later but my two thoughts after I won/lost the hand were:

A) Should I have 3-bet pre? What are the reasons for and against? I'll be making a big pot OOP without a made hand but on the flip side I'll have the betting lead or maybe I'll take the pot down pre right here. How do I quantify which is better? I'm not very good at playi

To quantify which is better it really is player dependent. If they're raising pretty wide obviously 3betting is good to get value from worse aces, etc...

I'm fine with calling and c/r when we hit as most villains at this level aren't folding top pair. As played I would continue to bet the turn and river. If we check the turn villain is probably only betting flushes but if we bet the turn he's still probably calling with a lot of AK, AQ and AJ type hands.

The downside to betting the turn is if he shoves we really would need to fold without better reads and that sucks with top top and the NFD.

As played I bet turn and shove all rivers.

I'm 3b pre loose/passive tables and flatting pre on tight tables. I'm flatting here though.

Lead flop for 75% pot to charge spades, sd's and weaker aces.
