Hi all,

1/2 MD Live Casino. Hero tag image playing for 8 hours with villain. Villain $550 hero covers. Villain is young wg and appears tag as well.

Hero limps UTG 99 (I considered raising but decided from ep I didn’t want to face a massive 3!). V on BTN raises $11, hero calls. Heads up to the flop.

Flop: 9c-6c-2s.

Hero bets $15, v raises $45, hero raises $200. V tank folds.

I wasn’t sure about sizing otf. If v has AcKc I want to charge him massively for his draw. If he has an overpair I might have gone smaller. Thoughts?

Thanks,
DT

I think 200 is too much. I prefer a call and evaluate the turn. Most likely check the turn and try to catch a bluff. Maybe lead the river but that is player dependant.

Edit...im terrible at poker.

raise pre......as played, c/r flop, bet turn, bet river......as played, your 4.5x RR on the flop is HUGE

Prefer you check raise flop here. I guess leading is okay sometimes. As played $130 feels better than $200.

Raise pre. We are deep enough to call most 3bets.

I really don't like your flop line. I'm checking 100% to the raiser. We miss sooo much value when he just folds AK to our lead. I think i x/r but i could talk myself into x/c as well.

AP i flat his 45. There are ~10 FD combo's which may continue, but 30 overpair combo's which he likely folds to your 3bet. Ott we can x/shove any non club.

110 would be fine reraising 200 is too much. I used to not raise 9s myself until I posted a few hands here and realized the equity I was missing out on. Even if you make it 10 it still would help.

I'm on the fence pre. Open limping 99 utg 9 handed is absolutely fine IF the table is loose/passive pre but sticky post, and you are likely just bloating a mw pot oop w/a mid pp. If the table is full of droolers who play fit or fold and blast off otf w/ one pair, OR single raised pots often get hu or 3ways, then I like a raise more, but deep vs decent players position becomes PARAMOUNT. An over card will flop ~80% of the time. Also, I don't care how deep we are, getting stacks in by the river is still possible in limped pots.
TBH, not wanting to get 3b is a bad reason for not raising. We are deep enough to call a normal sized 3b to set mine. How is the table playing OP?

Also, this from best of LLSNL: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/1...image-1136787/

otf we need to keep our range wide and try to drag this out over 3 streets. b/3b otf is too face up imo. Are you ever doing this with like ATcc? TT? 78s? Probably no to all, right? I think V figured that out and mucked JJ+. Ckr/b/b is a good line, otherwise cc/ckr/b is good too. We risk a street checking thru with these lines, but getting a river bet called is what we need to focus on. (also, if you ck/r flop and a club falls, DON'T CHECK! Bet/fold. Always.)
AP you can still keep your range wide by just calling the 45 and going for a ck/r on most turns.

I'm guessing you are used to playing short stacked and are accustomed to getting stacks in pre or otf. Playing deep means playing 4 betting rounds more often. I get that the flush draw is staring you in the face, but realistically, that is such a narrow slice of his range that we are targeting with the flop 3b, it shouldn't be the deciding factor when we choose our line.

Definitely raise preflop shouldn’t be worrying about the what if’s when it comes to potential three bets. As played I don’t mind leading sometimes with sets especially on a flush draw board. Preflop raisers can tend to be a bit more sticky in these spots especially on this texture board not to mention raise with weaker holdings . When he raises I like a flat to try and check raise the turn. If a club comes on the turn it can also mean that opponent picked up some equity with a pair and big club allowing you to bet into him and get a call as well.

Definitely don’t let the opponent off the hook with such a large reraise on the flop. Either size it smaller or just flat to allow your opponent to put money in badly on future streets
