1/2 NLHE

HERO is 35 White Male. Reg. Winning image so far with $500 in front of me. Running well vs short stacks and have shown down QQ JJ and KK. I am the only aggro player at the table.

Villain is 50. White male. Tight passive limping a little too much.

Hero has KcTc in MP. Open to $6. MP, button and BB calls.

Flop ($25) T 6 4 rainbow (but I do have a backdoor FD)

BB donk leads $15. HERO calls and MP goes all in for $45. Button folds.
Villian in BB flats...........

This sent off some alarm bells.

HERO folds..........

Thoughts on this play.

yep, well played. You could consider raising flop, but calling is fine.

$6 seems king of light, where I play 1/2 an open of $8-$12 is more the norm and less likely to get called by random cards. BB could have ATC here.

I keep reading that donk bets are made by villains that want to set their price for cheap draws. But my experience is that unless the donk bet amount is obviously small compared to the pot size (1/4 or less) donk bets are made by villains that want to get value from their TP, 2P, and sets. Here there is no FD to worry about.

So I would have called the flop donk bet and evaluated the turn, based on the subsequent action and villain's tendencies. A subsequent raise and flat call on the flop would set off alarms for me as well, and I would fold, expecting BB to never show up with less than 2P, and probably a set, and for MP to have AT, an overpair (JJ or QQ) or better.

I recently sat in a 1/2NL game for 45 minutes during lunch hour with a group of nitty OMCs. In that time I saw the OMCs show down AA 3 times, KK twice, QQ twice, and JJ once, and NOT ONCE did they raise pre-flop, from any position, even when they opened. sigh.....

PF: Meh, it's borderline. I usually fold here full ring. So your MP1. Why such a small open? If I'm going to play this in MP1, I'd rather open to about $9.

F: 4 handed. Pot is $25. SPR is 20 (your stack). Flatting is fine when BB leads. I would not raise. When MP2 shoves for $45 and then BB flats, I'm folding. I think KT is getting crushed in this spot.

I don't think that short of a shove narrows V's range. Any Tx he's leading with he's calling the extra $30. And he probably doesn't know what raising to iso is.

This may be true. I have experienced that many 1/2 players will call up to $20 with their entire preflop calling range. Considering this, and the highly unlikely chances of 3bets, I would prefer to keep it small preflop and play exploitative postflop.
