I little bit of background
Game is a casino run 1-2 that runs extremely deep. Max buy-in is to match the deep stack.
The only back history on image that is important in this hand is the history between me and the one Villain in the pot.

Hero: ($1400) Early twenties. Played with Villain a lot over the past year. He knows me for playing a wide range preflop and playing back at him. He knows me as the only player at the table who will 3-bet him light. In the past I have played back at him very often and shown down a few big bluffs after pushing him out of bloated pots.

Villain ($1200): Mid twenties regular. Usually the most active opener at the table. Fights for uncontested pots and c-bets large multiway (>3 way) pots when checked to in LP more often than the average player. We each view the other as thinking players (sometimes to the point of over-thinking) and highly analytical.

Villain straddles for 5
Hero UTG+1 with AQ
Hero opens to 25
folds to Villain in straddle who flats
Flop: A 9 T
Villain checks
Hero bets 35
Villain raises to 140
Hero raises to 365
Villain flats
Turn: 4
Villain checks
Hero checks
River 5
Villain checks
Hero checks

Before I tell you what he had/my reasoning in the hand (which you may or may not agree with) I would like to know your opinions. Thank you

Welcome to the fora. Playing in NOLA?

I like pre and flop given dynamics. Turn is ok, I guess, as we don't want to get committed with TPTK, although I don't really like giving a free card on a board this wet. River is def a check back, as we really don't want to re-open the betting here, esp against a V who might c/r a flush or air and make us give up our lovely SDV.

i like the 3bet on the flop since youre confident he'd call you with worse

as garick said, turn is good. if he raises you again with air + flush draw + AK, you're in a really tough spot.

same goes for river

SDV.

As for the hand, Im am glad to get input from both of you. I was unsure exactly what to do on the turn. I believed villain would bomb brick turns with a lot of his combo draws. When he checked it actually made me a little bit nervous that he may already have some sort of hand with decent showdown value (though in retrospect I beat a lot of those hands if they include pair+fd types of hands). In the end Villain showed down AQ and we actually split the pot

It's only the deepest 1/2 game I've ever seen. Enjoyed playing there while I was on vacation.

i was going to post that b/c river might be a cool play to induce a bluff from a very aggressive player. he checked river so i think the odds of him having a flush go way down. if he hit his flush on the river, hes certainly betting because he knows your checking back most SDV hands. i dont know what an aggro player is calling your flop 3bet with, checking turn, and checking river with. results oriented, but yea its probably a hand just like AK-AQ-AJ with some showdown value. i think A9/AT/ sets go for more value on the flop, all draws might 4bet as well, but 4betting Ax might be a disaster for him as you're never calling with worse.

so bet turn small-mediumish and maybe he bombs his SDV hand/occasional missed straight draw thinking he can get you off something? because surely he thinks a value hand will bet more.
