Too much talk at the table...tells... Too much talk at the table...tells...

A new player has joined our live games...

We play 0.25/0.50 NLHE

This player "thinks" he knows poker...he likes to bring out all the jargon to educate people at the table...

"I'm gonna 3bet, I'm gonna c-bet now etc etc" followed by an explanation of what said term is

So a bit of a talker...

I'm curious about talking tells though in this instance

I've noticed classic dissembling tells - such as daring people to call him when he has the nuts etc...

My question though is how often do talkers like this (noob players - and he IS a noob...his former experience before our cash games was free pub poker) mean what they say when they talk?

I've been HU with him a few times and managed to outwit him due to him over talking (too happy) once and calling him with worse when I felt he was hesitant (I don't always get it right of course).

I'm trying to build up a mental profile of his play but don't want him to change his "strategy".

Likely he has learned some buzzwords from books, videos or TV, and knows enough to use them mostly at the right times in a live setting. I would not put too much emphasis on this either way. He can get a hand when he talks it up just as easy as anyone else. Keep checking his betting patterns and showdowns rather than listening too much to his banter. In other words play on and let him rave on. Good luck!

Hmmm cheers!

Here's a recent brief hand history - we were playing Crazy Pineapple first time and I called in MP (with 23o) after a bet and he shoved on a board of 654. I called and he flipped 78s. Whether this was a good play or not (thread is on him not me ), is it likely he will shove his nut hands when he sees this type of action? The board was flushing...

Big bets to value town. He'll level himself into calling.

Cool

I just wonder sometimes at this level if one size fits all...I get a bit sidetracked by doubt
