Are we always three-betting? And if so, how big/what's the purpose of the three-bet?

44?
TT?
AJ/AQ?

This is an extremely complex question. You'd get better advice with a specific hand. Stack sizes and reads are extremely important as well as the PFR's position & # of callers.

In general the purpose of a three bet is the same as any other bet. You're either going for value or a bluff. If we're talking about squeezing from CO or BTN, I usually don't like doing it with low to mid pocket pairs. Sets play well multi-way.

Let me ask the inverse. In what situations are you 3-betting TT on the button in a raised multi-way? In what situations are you raising 44? For context - 5/5 live..

Dude, there's some basic poker fundamentals you seem to be lacking and should probably get in order before playing 5/5. No, we are not always 3-betting. There's two basic reasons to bet in poker: 1) for value and 2) to make better hands fold. Decisions to 3b for me depend largely upon my position, my perceived edge over the other players in the hand, and most importantly how my hand rates against the opening ranges of the PFR and the flatting ranges of the players who called after them... that's the value part. I'm never going to 3b 44, I will 3b TT+ and AJs+ in the right circumstances, but I would never 3b these hands as a general principle.

If 3b TT for value (bc you think you’re ahead of others’ ranges/maybe think we can get some value bc or aggressive image/perceived steal spot), are you doing it to ideally iso to 1 other? Ok with taking down pot there? Asking equally about 3b sizing (realize it will vary depending upon several variables)..

My general 3b in position sizing is ~3.5x+1 for each overcaller... so if someone opens $20, gets two callers and I'm raising from the BTN, I'd go ~$110. Stack sizes kinda matter when deciding an overcall or raise as well.

Thanks. And is the goal to take it down? Esp at 55 - very likely spot an average player calls QQ/JJ/AK/AQ - even OOP..

3betting with TT/AQ is probably a mistake if the goal is to get folds. (Using them as bluffs is a waste of their hand value). If you're 3betting with TT/AQ, it should usually be as part of a linear value range because your opponents will continue light.

For opponents who are only going to continue with premiums, 3b bluff with hands like A4s that have a blocker and will give you some semibluffing opportunities & more equity against QQ- but are too weak to flat (if they ARE too weak to flat in that spot, obv).
