Thinking of playing full time. Question tho. Thinking of playing full time. Question tho.

So I am a car salesman now and hate it. I don't make much, I'm making about $30,000 a year for the past few years but I work 50 hours a week. I have $10,000 saved up and am considering playing poker full time. I had played before for a living (two years)and did pretty well but decided to go into the work force. I didn't do it right to start though, I only had $2000 and got lucky enoughy to build a roll.

Here's my question is $10,000 enough to grind 1/2 NL? My monthly expenses are $1500. I was going to put $4000 into a savings account and use the other $6000 for my poker roll. Is this a decent start up for 1/2?

I do not need to become rich off of poker, just make enough to pay my bills and focus on my filmmaking career. (I am also a filmmaker)

Thanks!

Mario

Hey buddy, this was recently discussed in the following thread: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...nances-771192/

You're probably better off posting your question there.

I believe they said you want something along the lines of ~6 months living expenses, so you should have 9k in your savings -- and that's probably being somewhat conservative as you want to account for unfortunate events. Granted, 6k is solid for a $1/2 roll if you're a consistent winning player. Do you know what your winrate was before when you were playing that 2 years? To play full time you're going to want to track your results and be sure you can beat the game.

YGO will steer you in the right direction.
Also, search for a thread to the effect of 'I'm a real life poker pro' and read it.
Good stuff by people who play full time right now.

Good luck (and don't go pro),
