100% of my note taking has to do with building player profiles, as I play in a fairly reg invested room which has a constantly evolving cast of characters.
The PokerJournal app has a Players option where you can write up profiles on players and notes, plus 3 sliders (a loose vs tight slider, a passive vs aggro slider, and a third slider which I use for fish vs not fish). I'm assuming other apps have similar features.
It also takes me a while to learn names, so I typically identify the players as best I can be seeing if they remind me of someone (personally or famous), plus I write up as much distinguishing characteristics in my notes that would help identify them via a word search ("crooked index finger", "mole under right eye", "very busty and likes showing them off", etc.).
I've got opponents like "Asian John Cusack (Hoop Earring)", "Bill Murray's Brother (Moustache Bug Eyes)", "George Steele (The Animal)", "Hillbilly Adams Apple (Huck Seed)", "Kimbo Slice (Black Beard)", "Native Eric Estrada (Feathered Hair)", "Old Asian Fishlips (SpongeBob Dentist)", "Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Haggered)", etc. If I eventually find out there name, I update their profile.
