Table selection at 1/2 with a board or wait list

General table selection is obviously just as important as starting hand selection and table position so I'm wondering how other 1/2 live players go by finding the softest game when the room is full and you're on a wait list just to get playing, let alone playing at the table you want. I've tried requesting tables that I thought were soft but I never seem to get seated at my request.
I find myself playing at a not-so-desirable table for about an hour or two before requesting a table change, and even then, its not like you can request a specific table to be changed to so I might be moved to an even worse table.
I would like to know how other people that are far more skilled and experienced than I to share their favorite methods in this situation.
I play at MD Live and the Horseshoe in Baltimore if that helps.
Cheers

You should be able to request a change to a specific table you want. At least you can at any place I ever tried to.
Most of the floor people I deal with know me. They move me as quickly as they can. Become friendlier with these people at MDL and Horseshoe.
One of the things I look for at $1/$2 is just to have
1) More money on the table
2) 1 or 2 recognizable fish
You also will just see a table without any regs or OMCs.
Whatever you do, just be persistent.

The way it works in anywhere I've ever played is you can't request a specific table initially but then once seated you can request a table change to a specific table. Then if a spot comes open on that table you get it and the next person on the list gets your old spot.
