Playing in my local 1/3 NL game

Hero: 600-- have played 1 orbit and doubled up, no history with other player in the hand

Villain- I just doubled thru. Dressed like a poker player, talking, clearly the table captain, but from what I've seen... Looks to be a solid player

I'm the BB with T9 suited diamonds. UTG straddled to 6, 3 limpers including V on the button, I complete the straddle and we take the flop 5 handed

Flop: T97, the 7 is a diamond

I check, UTG bets 18, button calls, I call

Roughly 80 in the pot to see the Jd hit the turn giving me a straight flush gut draw, along with my two pair, but completes the straight as well.

I again check, UTG checks, button quickly fires out 125 for a big over bet

What do we do? And thoughts on hand to this point?

Rule #1: Never go broke in a limped pot.

Why didn't you check raise the flop? Why didn't you bet the turn?

As played, this is an easy call and see what happens on the river.

We lead the flop for pot or x/r large if we have reads UTG will stab. Since we are new and don't have any reads we default to leading the flop. X/c is the nut worst option.

How did V double you up? How recent was the double up?

I'd usually lead flop for 30. When you check you really need to check-raise. You can get called by so much worse on this board since a lot of one pair hands have some sort of straight draw too.

On turn you 3:1 against hitting a boat or flush on river. You are also sometimes ahead. You need to get 175 into the pot on river if you hit which I think you can do so I call and probably fold river if I miss. If I hit leading 200. Would need more info before bluff catching blank rivers.

Bet or c/r the flop. You should bet because there is no PFR to check to and you need to start getting money into a limped pot asap.

Bad turn card but not so bad you should fold. Your line is so weak that you can't always assume villain is betting 8x for value. He has plenty of semi-bluffs here. Worst case scenario, you have about ~30% equity (barring the ridiculously worst case of Ad8d). You should call for ~2:1. The IO should be there if you bink something.

I'm cool with preflop.

I'd probably just donk the flop and then decide on what stack(s) I'm up against / player tendencies / turn card whether I'm looking to commit on the turn.

I'd also check the turn.

I'd fold to the overbet. We probably have 13 outs, which puts us required implied odds of 3:1. Due to the overbet we're not quite getting 2:1, and my guess is a solid player isn't going to pay off when the flush draw / boat comes in (especially when in a lot of cases he'll realize he's paying off to hopefully chop at best).
