Suppose your in a full 9 handed game, 7 of the other players are weak and you have a big edge, however there is also one other skilled player who is superior to you.

You have him covered when a hand goes down between you two HU and he ends up shipping, you realize that a call is -EV however you have strong reason to believe that if you end up stacking him he will either:

1) Exit the game

2) continue to play sub-optimally and on tilt.

Waddya dew?

If an unladen swallow is traveling 62mph with winds moving north to south at 32mph, and it's groundhogs day, what is the EV calculation of removing said player from the game? As a follow up question, what is the EV calc for tilting him 8 inches to the west?

This is a rather unproductive response.

I think sometimes things can be +EV without being able to or actually having to put pen to paper, much like playing in position or sleeping.

I really don't see the point in taking a -EV spot to make him leave. You still have 7 fish at the table, it's not like you're not gonna win just because he is there!

If there's only two solid players then you probably won't affect each other's wr that much in the long run. Just play good. If the play is -ev then it's -ev and you should avoid it.

Theoretically taking the -EV play now to make the table softer and improve your EV in the long run could be right. Practically speaking, no. The benefits to your EV are too uncertain and are going to be small at best, it is never going to justify making a clearly -EV play right now. It is one of those things where you can construct situations on paper where it makes sense, but it never really applies. The situations all involve assumptions too unrealistic and situations too perfect to work out in the real world.

I would not make the play. You don't even know how long the table is going to stay together. If two of the fish get stacked and leave, and are replaced by solid or better players, lot of your age goes with them. You are just in such a good situation right now that im not gonna mess w it if im you. I am completely fine being the second-best player at every table I sit at the rest of my life

Fold. You don't need everyone at the table to suck in order to profit. Avoid -EV situations in general. Save your money and use it to beat the other players.

Trap him in a hand with one of the weak players and stack them both.

African or European swallow?

Edit: I will give a serious answer shortly.

Says DEADFISH. So must be an African swallow. PM me if it turned out to be a European one

Just think about how much money you would pay him to leave the table, if you would pay him 20$ then call if its -20$EV or better

This actually makes a ton of sense.

Or u can give him bj under the table to leave
03-06-2015 , 12:23 PM
Grunch.

Fold. Avoid playing pots with this player so long as it's not obvious that you are being horribly exploited by him. If he is exploiting you, adjust your game. If not, make hand stack fish, profit. If he sees you as reasonably competent, hopefully he will be doing the same. Doesn't make sense to go to war with the only other good player at the table IMO.

I think the thread has run its course. That's nice you have an opinion, but the without data or analysis, it is just an opinion. You wouldn't know that playing in position was +EV without someone doing the analysis.
