1-2 at the Golden Nugget. 5 handed thanks to the Corona.

Hero has played a few orbits. I assume has a well put together image playing TAG. Villian looks like the table captain. Effective stacks $600

Hero is on the button with 48 Villian in MP limps, Hero raises to $15, BB calls, V calls. Pot=$45

Flop 672
Check, Villian bets 30, Hero raises 120, fold, Villian shoves 550+ stack and we tank with $480 remaining.

Pot $700

Villians range is pretty narrow here and I can’t be far behind it.

Straight flush pays $400.

Really optimistic open pre, even playing short handed.

AP, I don't hate the PSR OTF, but you have to be ready for a shove. After his limp/call pre and lead on the wet flop that he has the range advantage on, his range already looks a lot like 2-pair or a set, especially as we block both ends' combo-draws.

Having the gutter SFD instead of the open-ended really hurts us here, which is a large part of the reason that this is a fold pre. If we had an OESFD vs a range of 2p and sets, we'd have about 47% equity. Instead we have 39.87%.

I'm a little confused by your description of the action, but I believe it is $430 to you to call. (He shoves a $550 stack over your $120 raise, or re-raises by $430) If that is correct, your call will represent 37% of an $1145 pot, and you have a call, even without the high-hand bonus equity. If he raised by $550 (or $480 effective) then your call would represent 38.55% of a $1245 pot, so still a call, but both of these situations are super marginal high variance spots, with a positive EV of only $33 and $16, respectively.

And that's if we give him all the 67 combos. If we limit him to 67s and give him one better FD combo, our equity drops to 36%, and we're now looking at a fold in both raise size scenarios.

FWIW, you have a 4.26% chance of hitting the 5h for the SF, which gives you an additional $17 in EV for the $400 SF bonus. $17 is the equivalent of about an extra 1.5% equity.

I’d fold as played.

I think the flop raise on a 2/3 PSB is on the spewy side.
Your hand blocks a number of semi-bluff draws, and this board should hit his pre limp/calling, flop lead range solidly. Additionally, as the table capt, he is more likely raising broadway hearts pre.

Conclusion is the flop raise has very little, if any, fold equity. Hand is also 3-way. Call flop ip.

Fold pre dude. You have a terrible hand and high rake to overcome.

Count your outs. Discount a little for bad turn cards. See what price you’re getting. You’re going to hit the straight flush about 2 in 47 times; which means the promo equity is an extra $17 ($400 * 2/47).

You’re probably somewhere around 35% equity and while it’s unclear who the effective stack is, if it’s you, you have to call 480 to win 700 + your 17 promo equity, or around 1.5:1. You need 40%. You should fold.

This is why you shouldn’t play trash hands preflop.

And as said before, calling flop is probably better. Having 8h and 4h in your hand really tilts his range towards value. If he has a hand that might fold like a 7, you’ll get more information about that later in the hand. Raising risks wasting all of the equity in your hand, as his response shows.

Dont raise so much on the flop. If he's betting for information then 90 will do just fine as he wants to see if his pair of 7's is any good. It also makes a fold much easier when he jams. As played I'm still folding.
