Straddling does make for bigger pots but so does shoving blind. That's not really a good reason to straddle. If you need the pot bigger to stack someone who's particularly susceptible to being stacked then ok.

Played in a room that allowed any position straddles last night for the first time. At one point, the player on my right would straddle his cutoff each orbit, so I had to act first on the button.

That's bad for me, correct? If so, what's the proper strategy adjustment? Table was full so I couldn't seat change. Was I allowed to restraddle to $6?

It's not bad for you

Most rooms with any-position straddles do not allow restraddles.

It seems pretty bad to me. My common sense understanding of this type of straddle is that it takes EV from those on the straddler's left (and the straddle himself) and gives it to those on his right. I would definitely want this type of player on my left. While with the BU the gain/loss is unclear, it is very clearly good for the HJ. HJ gets almost all of the gain from a straddle without paying the money himself.

I assume you say it's not bad because you get to play bigger pots in position? Personally I just feel it's probably not worth losing pre-flop positional advantage.

In the only room I've seen with a straddle from any position, which I just saw yesterday (Hard Rock Hollywood), position gets precedence, so you can counter the CO straddle by always straddling your BU.

I won't be the first one to start straddles, but I won't be someone to say no. Also if I'm killing it or running hot and its from one person who's gambly I may join them in straddling. I really only straddle when not straddling may kill the mood or make a mark tighten up.

I just started playing somewhere that allows UTG and button straddles. There are some people who only UTG straddle and won't button straddle. It is baffling...

Seems as though I won't have a choice soon at my local casino. So do I button straddle or not? I have no idea.

My room transitioned from 1/2 utg straddle only to 1/3 MS over a year ago and my win rate went up significantly. I straddle button 100% and Co maybe 50%.

Shouldnt your win rate go up significantly solely because the BB is now 50% bigger? Im not sure straddling the button has anything to do with it.

You can blind raise this and put a ton of pressure on him when stacks are deep

I am being serious, you have the button vs 3 random hands and the pot is expensive for the other players giving you a ton of protection.
