Was involved in a huge pot with the villain earlier in the session where I reraised his turn bet on a 66JJ board and bet out $150 on a blank river with complete air, and got called by JT. He definitely knows I am capable of bluffing.

Hero plays somewhere between LAG and TAG.

$2/3 NL

Hero: ($320) AQ SB, Villain: ($200) cutoff openlimps. Button calls, hero raises to $17, villain calls, button calls. Flop (pot $49): A96. Hero bets $30, villain calls, button folds. Turn (pot $109): 9, hero bets $60, villain raises allin.

If villain knows your capable of bluffing at the pot, he/she wouldnt try to bet you out of the pot with a value hand.

Id say call.

It looks like the pot is so big you have to call. Pot is $229 after the $60 is put in by him and he only has $93 behind.

The read you have is pretty strange. You bluffed $150 on the river and he just called with the nuts???? Basing your decision on that one hand is not a good idea.

Your style sounds cool "somewhere between LAG and TAG." Please define that for us.

I'm fine with the preflop raise out of the blinds because the CO (and I'm assuming Button) are short. I would have raised to $20+ to setup a super easy stack off situation postflop if we hit TP.

Even though we didn't really want to go 3way, the bottom line is that we started with 66bb effective stacks, and have hit TP2K in an SPR pot of 3.6 where the board is drawy and we have been known to be FOS. We are absolutely 100% committed on this flop. I would have potted the flop so I could shove the turn. As played, easy call.

Villain's stack isn't enough to fold at this point, unless villain is known to be very nitty and always has 9X or better here. From villain's perspective they are caught between shoving and folding turn and if they think hero is bluffy may be shoving much weaker then hero's hand. However, it isn't exactly a happy call after the second 9 hits on the turn. That puts a lot of hands ahead of you.

what range are you assigning villain here?

I'd put his range as Ax, 22-TT, 9x, 6x

the next question is, what hands would villain shove against you on the turn?

I don't think V is shoving quads or a fullhouse on turn. I also don't think V shoves an underpair. So that leaves Ax, 9x

If we narrow it to playable hands then we are looking at A2s+, AT+, 97-J9

against this range, we have the equity to make the call.

Then throw in our image and V should think Ax is good.

So this is a clear call and I'd think we win 65%-ish of the time here.

Lastly, given the description in the OP, you can't soulread your way out of this spot. That is impossible and what fish try to do.

Instead, you have to think about these spots like a +EV player. THink in terms of ranges, and equity and image. And if you do all that, you can never NEVER fold here. And if this is part of the 35% of the hands where V has 9x, then meh, it is what it is. But we winning players don't think in terms of this one specific hand, we think in terms of the long term. And based on the longterm, we are ahead here and this is a clear call.

Is V capable of bluffing or overplaying a worse hand?
