Standard bet/bluff river and get raised all-in!!! Standard bet/bluff river and get raised all-in!!!

People check back the flush here to tarp here all the time. And if that turn check back gets someone to put in 200bb on the river with 3rd pair, then pretty good argument it's a great way to play it (and might even be considered standard).

I'm also pretty sure I've never seen a guy "not getting out of line and playing pretty straightforward" ever (like, seriously, *ever*) put in 200bbs on the river without the stone cold nuts, let alone a bluff. Our read seems way off (could that have anything to do with the whiskey or phone?).

My opinion remains the same regardless of result.
You ran into an outlier situation.
Putting yourself in these spots is not sustainable.

Not sure why V spazzed on this hand in particular. I need to ask next time I see him. I guess we were leveling each other

Not the whiskey (only 2 sips in) or phone

I went with my gut and it just happened to be right. Lucky

You should be able to use this hand to your image advantage in the future if you play against these people often enough btw. I’m sure you’ve probably realized this.

Grunch

Fold pre twice, fold flop, check/fold river, as played snap fold.

I like checking the turn and I don't hate a river bluff but otherwise this is just butchered.

When you bluff and then convince yourself to call a raise anyway, it's a strong sign that you are button clicking throughout the hand.

Actually it can be a sign that u are thinking on a very high level.

There’s a famous hand where David Kitai bluff raises the river with ace hi and get 3bet and then realizes he’s vs such a polarized range that A hi is good often enough to call

There are exceptions to every rule, and this hand, is clearly not it.
