Not thread worthy, but couldn't find anything in search. What online games should a LLSNL'er be playing to improve his live play/development? Online full ring games appear to be a different animal entirely.

Everyone knows that shooting a basketball is all in the motion, and same with hitting a golf ball.

Playing a billion hands will probably help you, but it's much more efficient to figure out the motion.

Online play is only going to help you if you invest in tracking software. Even then, you'll have to be brutally honest with yourself when you see the results after 50k hands or so. It is so easy to go, "yeah, I'm losing limping with 22 in EP, but I know I'm a solid winner live doing that."

All that said, online will improve your decision making speed which will make your decisions live better as long as you are thinking about the hands you are playing, not just falling into robotic play.

It depends on what aspects of your game you want to improve. It may sound weird, but depending on what your needs are, I might even suggest playing a game other than NLHE online.

I heard a good thing to do is to even just sit and watch the games. Keep trying to put players on ranges and see if you come up correct. I have done this a couple of times and although I don't directly see the benefit(as there aren't a load of showdown hands[ and ive only done around 10 30-40 min sessions]) I do plan to continue the practice. It's kinda fun. Also im sure if you do learn something it could possible just be added to sub conscious instinctual play perhaps

EDIT: this is for your #3 below

1. Get some hands in when I canīt play live

2. Experience against players other than the typical live stations: TAGs, LAGs, Maniacs.

3. Improve my hand reading

4. Work on bluffing, semi-bluffing.

5. Improve my skills to play bigger live games. (playing 1/2 now)

play TONS of hands at play money or .02/.05 zoom poker, just to develop good technical poker skills.

It's like practicing dribbling and shooting a basketball, sure you aren't getting better as a basketball player(ie. dealing with other players) but when you do play with other players, you don't have to worry about weaker skills that you can work on your own.

Full ring cash would be best obv. For 2, 3, and 4 you can do that at any stakes. The difference is that the higher stakes you play the more skilled each of those player types are.

I know several players who have said the playing PLO has helped develop their NLHE hand-reading skills.

It's good advice for advanced players, but not for beginners.
beginners will just start assuming every villain has wide range and millions of draws and backdoor every time.

But nevertheless PLO helped me with my double barreling 1v1 and c-beting ranges in multipots a lot.
