Standard 9 handed 1/3 table, first orbit
Hero is young 30s white guy

Young guy UTG opens to 8 and 2 calls in MP

Hero is in CO with KK and 3 Bets to 45

UTG has about 300 also. Standard 3-bet sizing? Think if I was in the blinds I should go 60ish?

My sizing with these stacks is all about the IO I want to offer. I like offering poor 8:1 IO because that'll offer terrible IO for ~setminers (let alone anyone else) which is important since it'll be unlikely we'll be able to fold postflop on non-Ace boards. But I'm conservative in this regards, if you're cool with offering better IO then that's up to you. So with this in mind I'd go about $50ish (and $45 is fine).

Regarding being in the BB, with these stacks in a 3bet pot (i.e. low SPR pot) I'm not too concerned about being OOP as the only difficulty will arise on A high flops, but I guess they arise enough where we're cooler putting in slightly more preflop.

Sizing also sometimes depends on how good we are compared to our opponents (if we feel they are good solid players then more reason to end the hand preflop, but if they all completely suck then happier making sure we see a flop) and also how loose they are (if raiser never folds to a 3bet then size up to get maximum value here).

I’m okay with that sizing and I just came across a few threads in which I think the sizing was too large; however, the hero’s had the second tier of strongest hands in those and opened up difficulties for post flop play.

Concerning pricing out setminers, etc. My experience in low stakes (primarily 1-2, 1-3) makes me certain that opponents aren’t doing the calculations anyway. They just say to themselves, “i’ll Gamble with you for $30, $45, $60, $100 right now because I have two cards and so do you and I feel lucky punk”. So, with a hand like KK and the other monsters (AA, QQ) go bigger.

Now you may think I’ve contradicted myself, but based on my experience $45 seems like a sweet spot for this spot.

I am open to rethinking everything though via discussion...after all that’s why i’m here.

Personally I just use a simple formula where I 3x the bet when in position and add one more bet for every caller. I do the same but I 4x out of position. So here I would make it (8*(3+1+1))= $40. (3x for being in position and two extra times for each caller).

If I was in the blinds I would round up from 48 to 50. So your sizings are a little larger than mine but I think still reasonable.
