Should I be raising more rivers? Should I be raising more rivers?

It seems as if the majority of the posts I read say to bet/fold river (usually small) whenever a scare card comes or you don’t hold the nuts against a tight and/or passive player or against a regular 2/5 player. This makes me think I should be raising a ton of rivers when a slight scare card comes or when I doubt the aggressor has the nuts. (I mean bluffing when I could easily have the nuts.) I’m generally a tight player and can sometimes be passive, plus I’m a 40-something female, so it seems that if I start raising rivers more often, I’ll get a lot of folds. Does this make sense? Is anyone else noticing the bet/fold river advice in so many of these LLSNL posts?

Edit: I don't mean randomly raising rivers, but only when I could easily have the nuts against someone who I think doesn't.

This can be a good tool in your arsenal....it really comes down to reading the situation right and making the plays against the right opponents. Believe it works the best against TAG ABC players who have enough knowledge to let go of a hand....and understand the bet/fold concept.

Yes, absolutely.

Obviously it is situational and you'll need to follow the flow/line of the hand, know your opponent's image/history, as well as your perceived image. Imo, will work best against a tight-weak player who you may range as an overpair or TP, but facing a nasty board. Also vs. tight, thinking players.

GL!

Yes you should bluff raise river to maximize winrate. But only bluff villains who can fold.

I recently started trying to bluff more rivers but it can be costly if you aren't reading the situation correctly. Probably putting it on hold for a bit.
