jj

vilian is arab, youngish with beard. he has his chips in a mess and makes weird raises with his chips. i just got to this table and had less of a read on him at the time of the hand.
villian raise to 25, someone flats we just flat.

flop q-j-6 two . it checks around.

turn kwe lead 45 he flats without that much thought.

river is a black 7. i lead 110, in retrospect seems kind of greedy sizing. he jams on me. i have 290 to call.

after he jams he looks up quickly in case i was going to snap call. maybe afraid of a snap call.

anyway, how does everyone feel about this situation? i mean i obviously have something good i am not barreling twice on kqj three hearts without something good. and despite this he jams over the top of my big river bet. but its kind of a weird line if he had flush draw to not raise flop and to just flat turn.

i have seen him there before but i don't have a good read on his play. what do you think?

You should really start the post with stakes, your position, v position and eff stacks. Are you in the blinds? If so 3b pre.

I have a tough time folding river. I doubt I could do it as the board kills so many of his flush combos.

Were you going for a flop check/raise?

Did you consider leading flop?

Definitely 3bet preflop

You played this hand weird and didn’t describe a lot of stuff we need (stakes, position, etc). I think this is close and if you’re losing it’s more likely to an over-set than a flush or straight. I’m too lazy to math the river pot size but if V is bad enough to think 2 pair or AK is the nuts then a call can be perfectly fine. If not it’s a reasonable fold. Based on the limited info you’ve given I’m crying calling. I generally lose to face up cards rather than face down. I gotta see ‘em before V stacks my chips.

I check most flops out position, except in like extreme circumstances. Yeah I was going to check raise flop.

without anything sitting cold I profile villain as loose Ag = messy chips.
no way we get to the flop without a 3bet.
I want to know where im at pre.
your hand gets harder after that you are under -repped.
leading flop is not crazy but the whole tempo of this hand is messed up.
if we 3 bet pre this hand is so much easier to play.
I call I have a hard time folding a set to a loose ag player with a bluff friendly board even armed with the knowledge that river bluffs at these levels are rare

3! pre

Fold river.

You basically played JJs here the same way you would 66s- which is going to be the case more often than not when you don’t 3! pre.

That’s inherently problematic vs any competent V

It would be silly to fold after leading $110 with 3rd best set against a $390 shove, villian can always be rando spewing with AK, AA, KQ, KJ, undersets, weird ass bluffs, blah blah blah.
