did you? the fed will reimburse Oscar for testing

i purposefully shared the snopes instead of the trash printed that they are the ones directly manufacturing - but they are 100% involved in the process

edit: I just read it again and realize the phrasing I used was irresponsible - will report it and hope garick deletes or edits

sorry about that

Wow this IS some AIDS up in here...
My best to the wrathfam, definitely a Catch-22 wrt getting tested. Minnesota closed all bars and restaurants starting at 5pm today for the next 10 days, allowing for takeout and delivery still. Primary schools closing tomorrow for 8 days, not to stem the spread, but to allow teachers to plan for a longer closure and distance learning prep.

From the story...

Oscar is not involved in the actual process of COVID-19 testing or in the manufacturing of such a test. Oscar created a website — open to the public — that screens users to see if they qualify for a test and then provides a list of testing sites nearby.
What's the problem with this?

it was already covered if you kept on reading the article

but we've been over your issues with that in the past

Discuss your personalized results with a telemedicine doctor: The survey seamlessly links to Oscar's telemedicine solution, offered at $0 for members for COVID-19 treatment.
they are using the artificial test kit shortage as a way to convert customers from other plans - and the reason why it's $0 for members is because of federal reimbursement - so basically the government is funding their customer growth

It's not the worst or most eggregious but one brother is driving government policy for coronavirusand the other is one of the few companies getting federal reimbursements to cover customer acquisition costs

the 3k test cost isn't a pain point for the healt insurers because it'll be federally reimbursed - i'm not against the fed reimbursing healthcare providers in a pandemic, but it's nonsensical that they artificially drove up the prices themselves before doing so

"The task force will not give Trump its final verdict" ahead of the address until Kushner "finishes his research and comes to a conclusion himself," Politico reported.
if you don't see any problem with that then where would you draw the line?

in the end this isn't even about the kushners, it's that government moat building has driven up the cost of testing to 3k a test when they could import tests from china and charge $100 and make still be making money hand over fist

Posting twice about it doesn't make it any more clear.

From the PRNewswire link...

Quote:
The testing center locator is the latest update to the tools Oscar is developing in response to member needs as the outbreak evolves. The tool builds on the insurer's at-home risk assessment survey, also launched this week. Here's a step-by-step look at the consumer journey to coronavirus planning and care using Oscar's full-stack tech platform and advanced clinical capabilities:

Take Oscar's risk assessment survey: The clinically-validated tool assesses your risk of contracting COVID-19 to develop your personalized care guide.

Find a testing center: If your assessment includes a recommendation to get tested, you'll be taken directly to the testing center locator to find a center and get instructions for your visit, including the importance of calling ahead to understand center-specific requirements. Oscar is waiving cost-sharing for testing for all members.

Follow your assessment recommendations: If you're not recommended for testing, you can still take action. Your personalized guide includes recommendations on how you can reduce your risk of contracting coronavirus based on factors like your location and age, and whether or not you have any chronic conditions.

Discuss your personalized results with a telemedicine doctor: The survey seamlessly links to Oscar's telemedicine solution, offered at $0 for members for COVID-19 treatment. Members can speak with a Doctor on Call about symptoms, risks, prescriptions and more. Speaking to a doctor is an important piece of assessing risk.

The new testing center locator is based off of information collected directly from Oscar's provider partners. It is being updated daily as new testing locations are stood up around the country.
This seems fine.

The Business Insider link is basically, "Jared Kushner bad"... which is nonsense.

So it seems the national day of prayer was not effective at ridding ourselves of the virus. I for one am shocked. Thus further continuing its streak of never working once.

This happens with virtually every Fed.gov purchase, btw. It is a characteristic of government contracting. It's long been documented.

Its how many Congressmen and Congresswomen have entered public service in the middle class and exited public service a multi-millionaire.

Being angry about this now is like being angry about having a hangover on 18-Mar.

The proper response is that Kushner is an all-knowing savant who will solve the Middle East Conflict, solve the immigration problem, reorganize the government and deal with the COVID 19 pandemic.

I think we all now start to realize why years ago folks started to talk about diversifying the supply chain away from being solely dependent on China.

Perhaps we could import some tests from Indonesia for $200?

sure i'd be down with that 20x more than the chinese ones but still 1/15th the cost of the ones in america

you still haven't stated where exactly you'd draw the line, if you're ok with one brother setting policy and the other benefitting then what steps would they need to take that would be a step too far in your opinion?

That's a genuine question. I'm really curious where you feel nepotism begins.

When we get back to a situation where the AG is the brother of POTUS (1961), come back to me and ask again. But depending on which political party we're talking about, the media will just roll over, so there's at least a 50% chance we'll never hear about it.

i don't understand why you need to politicize it and then not answer

it's easy to poo poo everything, a lot harder to state something constructive

i don't think it's unreasonable for me to ask where you draw the line on cronyism in government

Spoiler:
i think you'd be very surprised which party I identify with for what it's worth

frankly, your answer makes it sound like you don't care what goes on if it's a party of your choosing and i can't understand that mindset

For the record, I don't see anything disgusting with Oscar and their COVID19 Test Location App.

Corona making a decent dent in the reason some are dying on the Wiki death page (a page listing famous / well known / etc. deaths that I check out every day). Looks like 9 in the last 10 days, although mostly old (56, 59, 62, 71, 79, 83, 88, 92 and 94).

ignore oscar and current administration... at what point do you draw the line with family members in government and correlated businesses? Hypothetically, like for an administration 20 years from now.

I don't think that's an unfair question.

If you can state one variation of it is ok then you should be able to state when it's not ok.

tax rebates? contracts? monopoly? selective prosecution?

your reluctance to answer is quite puzzling for someone who implies they have all the answers for public policy

However, the spread of corona seems like a big win for the flat earthers. Spherical gravity would have a totally different effect on the micro-droplets that carry the virus.
