It's quite possible. I know there's an organization out there collecting volunteers already. The thing is, we've got multiple vaccines in phase 3 trials already, and those are the ones that a challenge trial would usually replace, so clearly at least some of the developers are not comfortable with that route.

It was the 1976 Swine Flu breakout where they rushed a vaccine and it did more harm than the virus. If they get a vaccine out this year I will sit it out and let the general public be phase 4.

Again, I'm not a pandemic historian by any means, but the Hong Kong Flu pandemic of 1968 seems very similar to this pandemic in many ways (especially regarding the elderly making up the bulk of the casualties) and it's estimated to have taken between 1 million - 4 million.

1968 was a very long time ago though.. medicine has advanced quite a bit since then

Garick does a pretty incredible job for a “volunteer” imo. You guys should listen to him...

His time management skills must be off the charts.

PG&C and NV&G are both disasters, for example, imo.

I don't see any reason not to do Challenge testing if it's more efficient. If participants give fully informed consent, are adults and of sound mind then it's 100% ethical. I imagine it wouldn't be hard to find enough volunteers if you pay them something.

By July 16, basically the entire SK economy will be open. Restaurants & bars at max capacity BUT still need 6' spacing (was 50% regardless of spacing).

Casino opens next week... but no table games.

No mandatory mask requirements, though recommended. And according to what the Breezes have seen, 50-75% mask usage seems to be the uptake here.

Only 88 active cases here.

Well they might be consistent and make covid vaccinations mandatory for anyone under 44. But 65 will have an exemption for health risks, such as 'needles make me feel old.'

When you entered the Marines, were they still using those "inoculation guns" instead of needles? Damn those things sucked. IIRC, I get 4-7 shots pumped into my arm via pressure alone in like 5 minutes.

When I entered the Air Force, we got this style of shots in Basic:

They totally sucked, as you can see from the blood running from the previous injection site:

I heard they stopped using them due to the risk of getting some other guy's blood transferring from the gun into your injection site.
