Guy at my table tonight ($1/$2 NL) who was spewing money left and right rebought probably at least 4 times for $300. Each time he bought more chips, he would only take green $25 chips. If he got reds, he cashed in every 5 for a green chip EVERY time he got 5. At first I didn't care, but what a timewaster this guy proved to be. He had to make $2 calls with $25 chips. That means the dealer taking a chip probably every other hand and breaking it down. And if he won that hand, those red chips went back to the dealer for a green.

Really needs to be a rule that this isn't allowed. Play with chips that are good for the game. Very frustrating. Thankfully, he was an ATM though.

At Mohegan Sun, the rule is that you can't color up unless you are leaving the table. Good rule for the reason you give above.

At a lot of games I play in, only two (or sometimes three) kinds of chips officially play in the game. Sometimes dealers get lazy about coloring out odd chips, but will do it if you ask them.

This reminds me, I played at Caesar's LV this last week and it was so tilting that the 1/3 game played with $1, $2, and $5 chips. WTF! That's so annoying!!!!

Tell the guy everyone knows coloring up is bad luck.

When I was in biloxi last the dealers didn't like to color up to green chips until you had at least 200 in reds on the table (1/2). Uncapped and cash plays on their tables also. Seems to me like all rooms would enforce something like this as everytime he plays the dealer has to cut change, and this would cut into their hourly.

lol, Kurt, I played there for the first time during the WSOP and I thought the exact same thing. seriously, are 3 different chips really necessary? $1 and $5 are fine, imho.

What I hate is guys coming to the table with cash, waiting three hands for their BB, and then buying in at the table. Seriously, there is no line at the cage, and it is right there.

Most rooms do maintain some kind of procedure and/or rule that a player can not do exactly what this guy was doing. Generally its enforced thru the dealer refusing to color up his reds...

who had the brilliant idea of even having $2 chips?

Spoiler:
There is a $2 bill in the US and theres a reason you don't see it very often.

2-4 limit seems like an excellent reason for a $2 to me.
