if he's tight i fold pre (well i should but it's ****ing live and im bored)
other than 1 session of 1/2 2-3 years ago i havent played it in 7-8 years but from talking to friends either

1)nobody has the balls to 3 barrel in 1/2 and you're beat so i fold riv
2) he's a savage spewtard (which you probably would have mentioned) and im never folding.

What are your thoughts on the hand? Do you have any reads on villain? What hands has he showed? How wide is his preflop calling range on the button? If he calls pre with any ace and 3 barrels any ace here you are chopping a lot and its probably a call. I don't play 1/2 very often, but from my experience it's pretty nitty. As a default if I had no info on Villain I'd probably fold.

Playing without reads on villains is like going into a gun fight with a knife. Preflop is questionable. Flop call is fine. I fold turn.

I'd fold the turn. Given that you call on the turn you have to call on the river and hope for a split or crazy bluff.

I think you played this hand far too passively. I'm either leading the flop, leading the turn, or both.

As played, you're probably behind, but that would be one hell of a river fold.

Just to clarify, I'm not necessarily advocating that you stack off with this hand. I think you can profitably bet/fold on either the flop or the turn.

This hand does illustrate how important the following 3 fundamental concepts are when playing poker: hand-strength, aggression, and position. In this pot, Villain beats us in all 3 of these fundamentals.

Regardless of that, this is not a very difficult fold. Just read the story the Villain is telling. On the flop he says he has a piece. So either a Jack or an Ace, or better. The turn is a King and villain continues to bet. He is now telling the story that he is not concerned about the King. This means that he either has Ace or better or exactly King-Jack. However, even if he had exactly King Jack he should still be concerned about your call on the flop but based on his betting that does not seem to be the case. The vast majority of the time he has Ace+ here. So based on the story he is telling, we are either calling to chop, suck out or are already drawing dead making this quite an easy fold. No fish will ever fold an Ace here and Villain doesn't expect you to fold an Ace.

Hands like this are what separate good players from the bad ones.

Reads on CO? Probably getting rid of this, folding pre is correct . We aren't deep enough to 3! or get stacks in easily without flopping gin.

Reads.. CO solid reg,
BTN has been in more than half of pots at table since I sat down. 4-5 orbits ago by this stage.Although a big stack he is down a buy in. Have seen him barrel 2 streets and then check/fold river twice + Check/call light. My pre flop call as such was more to do with him entering pot. Has opened most pots he has played.

The fact he didnt 3 bet pre made it hard for me to put him on AK,AQ, JJ+ imo..
Fact that he led flop somewhat ruled out q10 as i thought he'd take a free card in that case.

If I play hand is it a raise on the flop?

No, a raise on the flop is terrible. It folds out all Jacks and allows only the hands we chop with or beat us to continue.
