1-2NL at Gulf Stream in South Florida
Eff stacks 230

Hero: Mid 20s white guy, LAG image at the table even though i'm playing tag. Haven't shown any of my losing hands, made a couple big folds correctly but nobody actually knows that so I look bluffy.

Villain: Mid-age black guy. I've been playing with this guy for about an hour and a half, I've seen him call a few raises preflop but haven't seen him take down a pot. I played one hand with him, I flopped tptk with AQ, bet on q66 flop, check turn, and bet a q on the river. He decided he had a vendetta against me for betting him heads up since he had to fold.

Hand:

Hero 79s on btn. Villain in mp. Very passive table except one agrodonk in ep. 5 limpers by the time it gets to me, so I limp. (I probably should have raised here if I wanted to play the hand, but I didn't. Leak?) SB BB check. ~$16

Flop 6 8 A rainbow.
Checks around to me, I bet 10 to try to get a free river card and juice the pot if I hit. BB, Agrodonk, vil call. ~$56

Turn 10 completes rainbow.
Checks around to me, I bet 60. Folds to vil who calls. ~176.

River 6
Checks to me I bet 70, Vil goes all in for 150. 80 more to me. Call or fold?

Comment on all streets please if you see a problem.

Overlimp is fine. At this table, raising a suited gapper with 5 players in is likely spew.

Flop is ok. Someone should have an ace, and if they don't you can likely buy it with later bets.

Turn is gold. I love the overbet with the nuts.

River is too small. You lose a lot of value with that bet, and obv a fist-pump call when he shoves. He has A6 or 68, gg him. He has 66 and he's even worse than you thought. He has 67 or AT and you're laughing.

Pre: I prefer the limp to the raise here. Suited one gappers play well multiway and you have position. Easy to fold if we whiff and have minimal invested.

Flop: like the $10 bet for reasons stated

Turn: again, like the sizing

River: obv when the board pairs we aren't happy, but I think it's way too possible he has trips, 3 pair, or even just Ax here. I call and pay off his full house.

I used to bet small to keep players in, but I've realized a lot of these players have super inelastic hands weighted towards the call any bet side. So now I tend to overbet for value on a good board like that. I had a lol hand the other day where I flopped a boat with k9 on a kk9 flush draw board and bet 3 streets of value against 2 players. I lolled so hard inside.

So, the river call is ok here even though he seems like a tight ass? I had the same logic, ace might do that, 6 would def do that.

You guys are gonna puke when you hear the results. Going to the beach, i'm anxious to make yall sick so i'll post em when I get back.

V has a boat (let me guess, a horribly played AA?) but you're probably calling anyway. Don't think I could fold here for $80 more. I would have raised to $15-18 pre to get it heads up or 3-way.

I shrug-called... There was too much I beat and too much in the pot to not make the call. And yes, he had AA.

Then he starts talking ****, saying 'I told you I was gonna get you'. I asked him if he folds his set on the river if he doesn't boat up and he said yes (LIES!!!). Then the TAG guy next to me told me I shouldn't have bet the river. I told him my logic in doing it (which apparently is the same logic that you guys had) and he said he wouldn't have done it against this guy. Unfortunately for me, this was their home court, I usually play down the street at a different casino or in pompano so i'm not a reg there and I guess couldn't identify vil's habbits in the short time I was there.

Topped off and played for another few hours... saw vil call maybe 5 hands preflop and fold all of them on the flop except one. Where, guess what, he flopped a set and slow played it.

An hour after this hand the guy who told me it was a bad river bet got up and before leaving said that he changed his mind and I was right in making the v-bet on the river. I wasn't so sure any more which is why I came here.

Off to tables! Hopefully I won't have any hands to post here tonight.

I supposed I should have thought about the river bet a bit more... I was scared to lose value from him folding an A, but I suppose a majority of the time 1-2 players are going to call a jam with a lone pair of aces+ and they are going to shove anything I can't beat which I will call anyway. So, I guess most value comes from a shove. Good advice.
