And I get to see a turn card, and usually a river, with a hand that flops a lot of draws.
With regards to better hands calling us in the HU case due to bigger raise sizing (something Dreamy also points out), in a HU pot with us in position with initiative, it doesn't matter us much (even when we end up going up against a dominating hand) because the most likely result is that we'll both miss the flop, and when that happens, we win with our cbet (often winning with the worst, and sometimes even dominated, hand).

But the small raise is always going to result in a multiway pot, where now we have little FE postflop, plus the more multiway it goes (especially against an obvious juicer type raise, which $10 certainly is sized as) the more opponents will play it straight forward and simply bet out their hands. Basically, the initiative we gained here is useless; we'll whiff most flops badly enough where a cbet would be lighting money on fire (little FE this multiway) and we often won't get it checked to us (so we won't even be able to take a free card in the rare cases we'd actually like to take one).

As for controlling the size of the pot with mediocre TP hands, we had a perfect opportunity to do that: by limping preflop and keeping the pot small. The single biggest thing that makes an eventual pot very big by the river (the absolute last thing we want to do with this hand making TP) is by juicing it preflop and going very multiway.

FWIW, I think the hand was fairly well played postflop (including our river bet sizing), although with super reads against certain opponents we *might* be able to get away on the turn / check back river. Sometimes we valuetown ourselves, unlucky.
