Hi guys,

Underground 1/2 game in sydney, crazy game, generally 4-5 way on the flop and guys calling massive bets on later streets with Ace high / bottom pair etc. I have done well in these games just by playing tight and betting when I have it but tonight running completely card dead. I would be percieved as very tight by the table. Stack size is around 130bb and villain in the hand has me covered.

Hero is dealt Ah Qs in early position and raises to $7.00, button and small blind call

Flop - Jh Ac 7h, hero bets 20, button calls, small blind folds

Turn is a brick, hero bets 60, button calls

River - 2h, hero checks, villains asks how much I have and then bets $106

Hero has the Ace of hearts so knows villain does not have the nuts, hero?

Gross spot. I don't think possession of the Ah is relevant because V probably raises the flop with AXhh (so his flushes range for this line would not be any wider if we didn't have the Ah). I think I want to call sometimes and fold sometimes and the way I'll divide my hands is by strength, even though they're all bluffcatchers really. I could have AK here, or AA or JJ or 77 or AJ, so I think I'm going to muck AQ, as it's near the bottom of my range for raise UTG/pot flop/pot turn.

Thanks for your response. I'm new to live play so not sure about bluffing frequencies and pretty shocked by some of the things people are doing in these games

I know it's a general question but how often is your standard 1/2 player bluffing in this sort of spot?

you dont need them to spaz all that often to call a bet here, I tend to be very sticky OTR to half pot bets, because you dont need to win very often, and villans spaz plenty. Like ill see villans show up with KJ here sometimes, or A3 or whatever.

Here i think its pretty marginal, because there arent a lot of draws that couldve missed. QT KT QJ gutshots is it. I think the EV+ move here is likely to fold, although calling isnt too bad because it gives you some information and i dont think there is a ton of EV in either direction.

This is read dependent, and we didnt get a read on V just the table, but youre gonna have to decide if this is a guy who EVER bluffs $100+, as well as how often he might spaz out and put out the thinnest value bet ever on the river. if he has gray hair, the answer is no and never.

Those underground games are a very different beast to casino games and I'm not very familiar with them, also they just vary quite a lot depending on how many true maniacs are in the game.
