2/5 spread limit ($100 max bet) loose splashy table
Early in the session, v to my right is likely a younger reg or competent rec player based on earlier conversation. v ug+2 limps, h next to act raises to $20 with 10's.
Button call. pot $67.
278 rainbow
H bets $25, v raises to $70, H calls, btn fold.
t8 v bets $100 max bet, I call.
r9 v bets $100. action?

Call river without a solid read on villain. If you were going to fold the time was on the flop when raised or on turn. By the time you get to the river the pot is too big to fold to a single bet.

This is a good example of where spread limit turns into limit poker. Getting 5-1 you can't fold even though you have to expect to be losing most of the time. No point in raising because not much worse will call and your not getting any better to fold for exactly the same reason.

Mostly I would be making a judgement call on the turn. When villain continues after the 8 pairs I would lean fold but not strongly.

Yeah, you're getting huge odds, but that's a function of the spread.

I suspect there's even less bluffing in these sorts of games, and given that flop/turn/river went raise, lead, lead, I suspect this is almost always a very big hand, so I might lay this down even with these odds.

Limit is a different animal. One of the keys to success is to be able to lay down hands even though you "have the odds to call." Different situation in NL, betting patterns mean a lot more here.

On paper this is a call, but in retrospect I think the river is an exploitative fold. I think this player is not bluffing flop/turn with 56, the best I can hope for, as there are no flush draws. On the river I lose to 78, 89, 56, 22. I don't think there's any other bluffs in his range. I called and he showed 22.
