to learn how to get better. obv if you're rolled for 5-10 you could go play that rather than 1-2, but fundamentals of the game can be learned for cheaper at the lower stakes.

most would suggest that instead of looking at the value of the money in play you look at it from a BB perspective. this eliminates the thought that 'oh it's only 10 bucks, i shove with 74o', but if 10 bucks is a 100bb, then its the same as thinking about shoving for 1,000 at a 5-10 game.
honestly, when i got back into online poker last year, i started a 2nl. $2 is nothing to me. my bathroom break at work is literally paying me more than $2, but i still got upset when i played poorly. you may have to train yourself to think about poker differently at the beginning but eventually i'm sure you could think about it solely by BB. but i understand thats not for everyone, so YMMV.
