To reload or play short stacked?

Grunch

Depends on who I want to cover at the table. If everyone has ~60bb anyway, I would just play until someone I wanted to cover got deeper.

I tend to keep a BI in big chips in my pocket, so I can add chips without drawing a bunch of attention - like calling a chip runner or going to the cage myself

Additionally, when I buy in, I also consciously buy in with chips that makes it harder to notice me adding on. At 1/3, a $500 BI is typically $200 in $5 chips and $300 in $100 chips. At 2/5, a $1000 buy in is 8 $100 chips and 2 stacks of $5 chips.

I see the point that guy was trying to make , I must have misunderstood what he said. Still I think its pretty obvious that I take the game serious regardless of top off or not but I would never top off every hand that seems extremely unnecessary so its a fair point

Just keep greens in your pocket. Add a green when you're $20 or more from the max. Easy game.

+1 I always have a pocket full of chips in my jacket which I always wear since poker rooms are so damn cold.

Even if they did are the fish gonna notice you top off like 2 hands in a row and jump to the conclusion that your a sicko and not give you action....

Reload to max immediately. Always. I carry extra black and green chips in my pocket so I always have at least 976 (max BI 1k).

Even if you're still the deepest player at your table I would do it. You never know when a deep stacked fish will sit down, or a medium stacked fish doubles up, and if you time your reload to when they show up it looks kind of predatory.

I top off. I like to have as many chips as possible to have room to work bluffs and get value from my value hands.

Re: To reload or play short stacked?

Playing at Choctaw Durant last weekend where cash plays and max BI is 70% big stack, it was really easy to just top off whenever someone got up on me or I lost a decent sized hand. I thought I'd seen frequent top-offs at Harrah's NOLA, but it was pretty entertaining to watch how often fresh bills came on the table all around.

Cash no longer plays at my casino and you can't buy from the dealer or other players. Have to go the cashier or get the dealer to call a brush. It slightly speeds up the game but I wish they never implemented this rule because it makes it harder for fish to top up. They can't figure out to just buy extra chips. I've seen guys bust and pull out cash to rebuy, they're told they have to wait for a brush, and often they miss their SB or BB then have to buy back in which really annoys them. Seen a few just leave after that.
