Harrington on Hold'em Vol 1 & 2

Still applies in the tourneys I've played in. Tournament Poker for Advanced Players by DS is useful after Harrington and some tourney experience.

Thanks for these recommendations - I definitely need to read some strategy books - I will check them out once I've finished with the David Sklansky book.

Funnily enough I won my second ever live tournament for 500€ (50 entrants), I mostly played TAG. (2 weeks ago)

I went back the following week thinking I was pro and busted within 45 min by making a horrendous play. Most of the table were playing loose aggressive which I did not know how to adjust to - does anyone have any suggestions/recommended readings to deal with a LAG table?

After I busted in 45 min, I was so annoyed at myself that I vowed never to make a mistake like that again - so I am reading up and trying to fix all leaks.

How to read hands at no limit hold em (my least fav)
The course (Literally a textbook on LLSNL)

if you think you're an advanced player, then read Easy Game

If there was a book that concentrated on identifying & exploiting the weaknesses of your villains, explained OOP play in-depth, how to narrow your Vs range from flop/turn & maximizing your value, that would be the book.

Sorry, I was thinking of his Strategies for Beating Small Stakes Poker Cash Games. Mastering Small Stakes is apparently about both cash and tournaments, and I haven't read it.

Hey guys,
I'm looking for a book to beat live 2/5+ cash games. I've been playing professionally for 10 years (mixed games and PLO) and have consumed a lot of poker content. After discovering my local casino has a constant 2/5 and 5/10 NL game I'm interested in reading some newer books to help my winrate. After some research it seems people like:
The Course
Beat the Donks
The Grinders Manual

Would anyone agree with these books or recommend a different one?

Yes it would help you game, but not as much learning proper preflop ranges and exploitative value betting.

Applications is a hardcore look at the game theory behind poker. It tries to explain GTO so professionals know how to counter other professionals. At 1/2, no one's a pro & that book in particular is massive overkill for winning basics. I'd revisit the book once you're already crushing competition tougher than 1/2.

It's not all pure GTO. There are plenty of things from the book you can apply exploitatively.

I'd be a little careful reading the book as a beginner. Trying to apply the concepts without understanding them deeply might actually make you worse. Also, some things in the book are just wrong and someone new to theory won't recognize them.
