I see, yeah, that's a bit of a foreign way of expressing it for me.

BTW -- make sure you understand this before playing PLO. The dealers will screw up the "pot" in the "Pot Limit" raising structure. It'll be up to you to make sure that when someone raises "pot" that they actually raise "pot".

Never folding. I would think about quitting poker if I folded here, too.

Similar hand that I played at 1/2

Hero: mid 20s male tag $600
Villain: late 20s overweight but taller asian male $800. Playing LAG opening alot of pots in any position. Cbets 80% of the time. Tricky player.

4 ppl limp infront of me in CO I look down at 99dh and raise it to $25.

V on the button calls everyone else folds.

Flop 6h7s9d

I bet out 40$

Villain tanks then 3bets to $110

Immediately I think he flopped straight or lower set. Maybe 2p.

I was thinking of 4betting here but I called to reevaluate turn.

Turn Kc I check to the raiser. He bets 125. Felt weak but at the same time felt inducing.
I now don't think he has 2p.

I call hoping for the board to pair.

River 4c. Villain bets $350 putting me all

I ended up calling and he showed 58

Ugggg.

Two thoughts:

1. Try wearing headphones at the table. It will allow you to remain focused while other people are telling stories, or trying to manipulate/angle shoot you.

2. Try moving down in limits and playing 1-2. Once you start beating 1-2, then start playing 2-5 again. Maybe you were tilted, or maybe you just lost your mind, but that hand cannot be folded.

Good luck and kudos for owning up to your mistake!

This hand is quite a bit different from OP's hand in a couple of important ways.

Yep, this hand is a cooler. I'm going broke here as well, but probably would have raised the turn.

OP, don't be do hard in yourself. It's a learning process. You're not experienced enough in live poker to understand done tells. That's all.

Thank you I appreciate the kind words. Several of my poker friends basically told me I suck and to stop being such a bitch. Really tilting when the people you're close to try to make you feel worse.

As far as the first one, I usually disregard table talk, but when I do take it into consideration it helps my decisions. This is one of the reasons I took this hand so hard. Losing a big pot is whatever, making a mistake is whatever, but letting a guy essentially talk me out of the right play is inexcusable.

As far as 1/2, that is my normal game and I am a regular winner there. I try to play 2/5 on Fridays and Saturdays since there are more recreational players there on those days. This was one of those situations.

Also, OP, this is a great hand to do a bit of work on away from the table. Stove a reasonable range at the river here. What is your equity? Now stove a wide range (include all Ax, Kx flush draws, for example). How much has your equity improved? Finally, try to find a range so tight that you actually do NOT have the equity to call. See how small that is? Does this mean we should actually push here? Why or why not? I know this is a bit basic and ldo (and you are probably saying to yourself "I know, I know, I ****ed up, I won't do it again"), but it's the confidence we gain away from the tables that makes it easier to make the right play at the tables (even though next time in this exact situation, you may call and be shown the straight).

Further, someone gave you a great opportunity here. If you can not see at a glance that the posted "similar hand" is NOT, in fact, similar, then do the same work on that hand. Really explore the differences in that hand, especially in the equity against a reasonable range. Why should the equity in your hand be higher? Is it easier to find a fold in the "similar hand"? Why or why not?

Finally, GL at the tables! If you really love the game, then use this as your impetus to improve. If you still find you have little inclination to return or improve, then maybe this wasn't the game for you in the first place. I certainly wish you the best.
