Hi, i would like calculate how rake affect in my result, online is easy with hm2, but in live...

Rake is:

5% with 8€ cap in 1€/2€
5% with 15€ cap in 2€/5€

How can i calculate this on "bb/100" for NL200 for example.

I think shortstack play cant be profitable, like mss but dont know.

The field: bunch of regulars most of the time and i think with only 1-2 recreationals sometimes this rake take most part of your winnings...

Your 5% with $8 max at your 1/2 NL game is likely much better than my 10% with $8 max (+ $1 BBJ, + typically a $1 tip) at my 1/3 NL game. I'm starting off shortstacking now (keeping topped off to 66bb) and doing fine, but obviously the worse your rake the more you have to factor that into your method (I've concluded tight-is-right-and-tighter-is-righter is the best way to beat it, but others will disagree). But also depends on average stack size, skill level of your opponents, etc.

I would make some simulations given some assumptions (density function for size of the pot) calculate your wr wihtout rake and with it. One minus the other would give the effect of rake on your win rate.

Median pot size X 5% * (bb/2) * 100 = bb/100. Assumption is that a negible number of pots will cap. Don't let the number scare you. The best players can beat that game.

Forgive me if any of you have already seen the following opinion.

And allow an old fart to repeat himself.

A life-long friend of mine retired several - ok, many - years ago from his position as the poker room manager of the Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood, CA. He once asked me to estimate the following:

"What percentage of the poker money that walks into the room, goes down the hole as rake. Skip the tips, skip the promo drops, step right up and make a guess. On average, in concept only, over the course of a year, your mileage may vary, just make a guess Noz."

I guessed 60-65%.

He guessed 85-90%.

He would know better than me, I would think.

Which means any winning players are fighting over their "share", at any given moment, of the remaining 10-15%.

Sobering if at all close to accurate.

Yet there are winning players.

They seem to do what it takes to be winning players.

That's on us to do something similar.
