Raising with 88 in late position? Raising with 88 in late position?

I've been getting 88 a ton recently and have been raising. Wondering if it's +EV or not. In late position, not early position obviously.

One the one hand it's hard to play because there will usually be overcards.

On the other hand, if you get a set it could be a huge pot. I won two huge pots because I hit sets, one was when I 3 bet and another just 2 bet. However I'm sure it's skewed and normally could just be a bad play to raise with mid pairs

Thoughts?

yes you should raise in from LP. We're not only setmining.

we have a hand of value, it's not a small pair, it's a hand that if we get it heads up can win with a cbet, and since we have position we can also pot control to get to showdown as cheap as possible if we need to. We're not only raising to fold if we don't hit a set.

In LP, we have positional advantage and can represent other hands besides 88. If you're only raising premiums in position then you'll be pretty easy to figure out.

hi guys, when the table is loose aggressive and sticky, how would you play 88/99/tt in ep? I usually limp call when the price is right and release on high card board. Thanks!

Type of table will make you play hand differently. Loose table in LP with players in the hand I limp to set mine.
Right table in same situation I may raise to take down the pot pre or cbet to take down pot on flop.

In early position I limp on lose table and may raise some on tight table.
