Um.... by definition, bluff catchers only beat bluffs, so what are you ever getting called with? I suppose the only situation would be if you had like K high and had a read V was bluffing, but were afraid you were behind some of his bluffs (A hi or small pp)

By definition I don't see how it can be; if he's calling with worse then your hand wasn't a bluffcatcher in the first place.

But yeah OP this discussion isn't going anywhere. Post some hands to illustrate what you're talking about and then we can discuss them.

They wouldnt really be bluff catchers if you are trying to get some more thin value by raising the river.

Just post an example instead.

OK. ES 200bb @1/2.

Let's say limped around to Hero opens AJss OTB to $15 and gets two callers (SB and MP2). V1 (SB) is young prone to post flop spazzing and is capable of turning med strength hands into bluffs. v2 (CO) is old woman call station; no matter what, she will get it in with 2pair+.

Flop: ($55) Ac 9c 7h

Both check, Hero cbets $30, both V flat.

Turn: ($145) 2c

V1 leads for $20 (lol), Hero flats, V2 folds, V1 flats.

River: ($185) 3c

V1 leads $75, Hero raises to $175.

When V has 130bb left, I think we are more profitable raise-folding with what's essentially a bluffcatcher. Thoughts?

if you think this raise has value and hes going to call worse, then its not a bluff catcher

Mostly no. This only makes sense against people who value bet thinly OTR. LLNLers are notorious for not doing so. So against polarized ranges bluff-raising rivers makes no sense. Against wide value ranges it can make a lot of sense against players who can fold (again, no LLNLers' strongest attribute).
