ok, i'm an american and i've only had 1 cup of coffee in my life and i felt like **** after it. that was 20ish years ago, it was on a construction site, so probably shittier than usual, but alas i never went back. as a non-american, what would you recommend i drink then if i wanted to try some bean flavored water?

FW - as a matter of principle in murica we all drink americanos. We order something else and give em a wink wink to confuse foreigners...but they give us amreicanos

I've had an Americano in Italy and one in Kosovo. They tasted watery to me, even the Italian one, but I generally don't like drinks you add water to. I drink my scotch neat and my espresso the same way. If I want something less strong, I prefer the water to have been part of the production process.

Yeah, I never understood how Americanos were a thing.

Sometimes I feel like people get them not even knowing what it is and thinking they are ordering something fancy.

Fwiw: Now that i'm working from home, we are back to our old cusinart grind and brew. Great coffee, but had gotten shelved in my daily commute to manhatten by Starbucks, and the occasional Keurig at home. Much better coffee than k-cup. Much more economical than take away, and no trash.

If I can keep wfh and never have to commute to manhatten for work again, Covid would be doing me a favor.

i must confess that when coffee supplies were tough to come by i would often be that guy using the beans until it tasted like water and running old coffee through the machine again

but that's back when i wouldn't know if i'd be able to buy more within the next 2 months type situation - hasn't been like that for a very, very long time

White Sands is also the smelliest.

Tucson should be fun to drive around and a little less stifling than phx. The monsoon is appears to be getting on in age so you'll miss out on the weather experience.
