I don't like that story telling style, prefer music based over lyric based

Also thought he was white and just edgy to hire black actors to lip sync for him

Well, he's from Dallas but he reps Miami, so that alone should put him on the Mt. Rushmore of rap.

Had my family not moved away from Dallas, my brothers would have gone to high school with him. So close and yet so far from pure greatness.

Yeah, the one style of rap I do like is story-telling that is more like poetry set to music than a "song." Particularly if the do a chorus that is actually sung (often by a guest artist), that tends to work for me. I don't listen to it over and over, but I can get in to it a bit.

I'm sure Macklemore is not taking seriously by many, but I really liked this one:

I'm always the last to get the memo about holidays that are going on. Fortunately I was still able to catch the hot dog eating contest on replay. Much smaller field than normal. Still strange not to see Matt Stonie competing. Since he makes like 7 figures eating on youtube I suppose it could only hurt his brand to get his ass kicked in the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Sorry, I enjoy Ghostface but dude recycles lines across different songs more than most rappers I can think of.

Biggie and Nas are the only ones that can even put up a fight against Em.

No one has mentioned Immortal Technique yet.

He's okay, but doesn't belong anywhere near a top 25 list

The problem with a lot of these guys especially in Big L's case is that they died too early.

Big L was really a sad case because he had so much potential and was a little ahead of his time.

Pun deserves to be up there for sure. One of the best pen games ever.

My buddy was “chased down” by immortal technique at a concert once. He thought my friend wanted an autograph. My friend had no clue who he was. In the end he settled for a fist bump.

I was / am a fan but he isn’t in my top 30.

Dance with the devil always makes me smile.

Remember when Mos Def was on Real Time With Bill Maher, and Christopher Hitchens asked him if he could call him Mr Definitely (laughing emojis)

Ahhh, tangentially speaking of Mos Def, gotta throw Talib Kweli somewhere in this discussion.

Not my thing, as I don't really like the "look how large I'm living" stuff, and the R&B background isn't really my style, but I liked it better than most rap.

Thanks for the recs. I hear Sasha and Digweed's names brought up a lot but haven't dug into their music much.
