i've never read anything even remotely low as the death rates he's given, just look here at the cured vs dead and it's pretty terrifying

i'm guessing he's assuming a much larger population of undiagnosed people who got sick and recovered - but then again if he's doing that shows he's definitely guesstimating here

in the bfi thread there's been a lot of people debunking that scientist as well, some people even brought up prior situations in the past where he was laughably incorrect in his prediction

Well he said he's looking at the Korean stats since they're the closest to reality. Which it's currently at 0.8% so higher than his .6%. We still got a ways to go though so we'll see. But safe to say somewhere around 1% is probably fair. But once the hospitals fill up who knows.

We'll see in September. But yeah it's moving quickly as expected. And still big lol to the people who were like it's only in China and before they could finish their sentence it had already reached the states.

problem is those labs don't want to deal with small orders, can definitely do it though if there's interest in volume - got a phone call with a lab in paris tonight so finger's crossed they'll be able to cooperate and then at least we'll have a partner in europe for testing - europe i'm not so concerned about - they got their stuff together except the uk when it comes to testing for the most part

US is the problem where few labs have permission and those that do very appropriately are using that government granted monopoly to charge thousands to do the testing

What's MOQ and unit price if you can share it?

i haven't clarified on this stuff with the suppliers in a while since haven't had anyone actually interested and i'm hesitant to make any declarations without doing that first (ie n95 masks can go up or down in price dramatically each day) but I'm guessing <$25 a test and I could probably talk them into doing this with just a few hundred orders - for example one place is capable of producing 20k per day

main issue again with smaller orders is shipping costs scale on volume, unless you're flying them urgently (which I have no idea about the costs of that) then shipping container has the best roi and should arrive in about a week, that container cost is cheap if it's full but quite expensive if you'd just put a few hundred units in it and leave it mostly empty

Are you only allowed to sell and distribute to labs? Or you can sell to anyone?
Can you administer these tests yourself or are they pretty sophisticated and require a lab tech?

the blood ones anyone who can draw their own blood can do, the spit one would require a lab tech

for blood - i really doubt much of the population would feel comfortable drawing their own blood even if it were capable outside of a niche market of diabetics and even then maybe not

for spit - we'd need to find a lab that's local, otherwise by time they sent back sample to a lab in china would arrive they'd already be dead or recovered

so ideally looking to just sell the kits and documentation to people who can navigate the regulation and legal loopholes on their own end - can send the machinery too but probably not necessary because i'm told it's quite common

I also got a long email about new procedures & potentially working from home this morning (once I was already at work).

This is the sentiment of most of my friends. My sister on the other hand is a baseball junky. Stopped by yesterday evening and she was still in her pajamas watching reruns of CSI. She is not handling no spring training games or college games to watch very well.

I on the other hand like me some golf too and they just postponed The Masters. What the hell are we supposed to watch when we're are self quarantined? Maybe ESPN will show reruns of those goofy sports they aired when they first started. Timber sports, arm wrestling, bowling etc...

Interesting that people are choosing to self-quarantine without having rifles stuck in their faces. Who would've thought? Mind blowing stuff.

Give it a week or two and we'll have gyms (and everything else) simply devoted to those with coronavirus, so then we can all go back to our normal routine.

CO schools closed; lacrosse cancelled until 4/6.
