I played with a horrible woman from detroit. She was completely shithoused and letting the whole poker room she was a lawyer and would sue us all. Every pot she won she would yell "ship it" in a horrible nasal voice. The drunker she got the more confrontational she became. I saw her blind all in pre a few times and she was calling out the table for being pussays.

So I see her do it again and I wake up with the monster that is the A6o and snapple on the button. I take it down and she rips into me HARD. I explain that I cant fold as it is my favorite no limit holding. She goes off on me and gets escorted out soon after

And it can definitely be interesting to learn about in general. In terms of the credit card stuff honestly it is both very basic but also very complex. I have a very detailed spreadsheet where I track everything I do and there's plenty to learn about due to so many different cards/issuers/diff rules for diff issuers/etc. Essentially the way it works is that in order to have the convenience of credit cards, stores pay swipe fees. These fees are then passed on to us in the form of higher prices. Credit card companies offer rewards either in giving a couple % back on all purchases or also in the form of sign up bonuses in order to entice people to sign up for their cards instead of the competitors. So people paying cash/debit are leaving money on the table. The highest return comes from getting a new card that has a sign up bonus, which will vary from card to card. For example there's cards where if you get approved for the card and spend 3k in 3 months you will receive $500 back. Obviously there are two very important factors to all of this. Most importantly you need to be paying off your balances in full every month. Getting a sign up bonus does you no good if you are buying things you can't afford and are now in debt paying 18% interest. Second is that you aren't raising your spending just to meet the terms of a bonus because again that will just negate the value of the bonus in the first place. But if you are spending $1500/mo on life expenses either way but put it on a card with a sign up bonus I described, you now got a $500 (~17%) rebate on those life expenses. Then it becomes a balancing act of which card to get/when to get it/how to plan around the different velocity rules of different issuers etc. Honestly anyone who wants to learn more can always feel free to reach out to me and I'm happy to discuss/point you towards more resources. I enjoy discussing this stuff and honestly it also can be mutually beneficial anyways since there's certain cards where you can refer people. It's worth repeating again though, although there there's essentially no downside with a lot of upside if you are financially responsible, if someone cannot control themselves/their spending than this is not something I would suggest they do. But as long as you are responsible it's easy money and also is even more lucrative if you use the bonuses for traveling.

Even very smart people who are doing it full time are not providing greater returns than just setting and forgetting it in index funds. And the few who do are extremely likely to just be on the good side of variance. But despite the fact that you will always have to question whether you are actually performing better than the index, even if you squeak out a couple extra % ev return, all that time spent to do it will have given a significantly greater return if spent on poker. Max your retirement accounts/throw the rest in a taxable brokerage/throw it all in index funds/leverage good credit to get sign up bonuses for thousands of dollars in rakeback per year on your yearly spend (including on your tax payments). Save your time and energy for things that have a higher return/life balance and keep it simple for the other stuff imo.

This has to be the best advice I’ve ever read on 2p2

Chase just made me an offer to settle for 10% of my defaulted credit card balances.

In order to stay in line with Big Skip's playful tone the exchange probably should have gone like this:

Skip: FYP ya fackin' houmow.

FW: They look the same on my phone, wigga

This sounds far more playful and irl you two would probably finish the exchange by bringing it in for a hug the way white people pretending to be black people do.
Point of order: I was pretending to be a drunk Aussie.

It's been a lifetime since I played in Detroit but there were very few wimmin folk who'd brave the smoke. Some off-duty dealers and the one nurse who warned us how easy it was to catch herpes.

Maniacs amirite

If no one minds here’s a unique preflop spot I found myself in. thought it could make for an interesting discussion given feedback was thoroughly mixed in my own circle.

Spoiler:
The context is that V is stuck several thousand (again) and is a big fan of 4-betting w anything remotely connected.

We had played a hand where V cold 4b $300 w 108o, I jam $900 w AKo, opener calls off KK, V snap overcalls off. In a different hand V opened (iirc) and then 4b jammed 1k w T9o vs a different reg.

V is similarly clicking buttons postflop.

V will be bombing most flops probably if we call

400nl

$2100/525bbe

OTTH

Pre-flop: V RFI $20 CO. Hero 3b BB $110 with A K. V snap 4b $450, leaving $1650 behind.

What are you doing?

maybe, these are some thoughts as to why it may not be super ez

I can’t help but want to make the perfect decision in this kind of spot, huge part of the fun for me.

Spoiler:

in the previous hand where V stacked off with the T8o we were 175 big blinds effective with this V. the T9o hand was a straddled pot so V only had 125bb in that one

We’re 525 big blinds effective in this one, which is a v big difference ofc

I think V will have a fold button vs a jam here w his Tx offsuit kinda stuff, where as in the previous HH V was committed

And then obviously this player type is allowed to have good hands too!

Is the bolded spoiler your assumption of Vs play or that you’ve actually seen V play different this deep? If it’s you’re assumption, there is some % of the time you’re just projecting a concept onto a player that s/he may just not really care about

Regardless, I’m not sure I could live with myself if I didn’t see all 5 cards against V

Garick gave me an infraction for calling someone a fish. So you literally read my post, your brain went off and said "omg, not an insult! we cant be calling people fish!" and then you wasted time out of your life and did whatever you did

It would be really nice if you stopped trying to **** me, I have enough friends who want my dick, thx

RTP about when you started you asked something like Why do we reraise AK when we will miss the flop 2/3 of the time. I responded Please find out and let me know, I've been wondering for 15 years.

Is the answer?
