I cooked tacos for three good friends of mine. They said they were really good. I was like yea why would I make you nasty tacos? They asked for seconds and thirds so that was good. Carne asada and spicy refried beans ftw. Add in cilantro, onions and radish- I’m a freakin chef now

Refried beans in all your Mexican dishes is the nuts. Even on tacos

My Elote street corn recipe says to garnish with fresh cilantro. Of course I make 3 months of mix in advance and save time by using dried cilantro.

After an Easter culinary adventure I had a pint of leftover cilantro leaves. So I spread them on some ho hum roasted vegetables right before eating; oh that's why it said 'fresh cilantro.'

I like my tacos to have tongue and various chopped up head cuts. Those are the most juicy parts.

I’ve tried all sorts of non white people food:

Sweetbreads
Eyes
Brains
Tongue
Etc

Sweetbreads were ok but wouldn’t go out of my way

Eyes - didn’t feel it

Brains - same as sweetbread

Tongue - not a fan

I love goat shoulder which is not something common for Mericans

What else am I missing

You're cool cause you're willing to try these things out.

Tongue is always one of my favorite cuts. Cheek meat is also super good and underrated. It's just a very tender cut of meat, nothing weird about it.

I love pig intestines too but that's not for everyone.

I moved to LA a few months ago and have been sampling tacos around the city. Thus far this spot has been my favorite:

Absurdly good carnitas. If you ever get a chance to try it make sure to get a mulita along with the tacos.

Second favorite, and my go-to for asada tacos:

When I was little, my Mom served us beef tongue. Even though this was 60+ years ago, I still remember the taste, it is delicious! However, she took me to the market to get some and I saw the tongue in the package (yes, it looks like a big tongue) and haven't been able to swallow it since. Pitty really, because it is very, very good.

I can remember seeing beef tongue in the very suburban supermarket in the very white suburb we lived in when I was a yute.

I've had Cabeza street tacos. Tender and delicious.

I saw Roo Tail (labeled as such) in a store in central Australia. I think my friend said it was popular with the aboriginal peoples.

We didn't get any to try, but on a different trip, did grill up some croc, roo, and emu. Don't remember anything about it.

In Africa, the place I was staying had a Boma (kind of a communal dinner iirc). Various types of wild game & local dishes. I passed on the pot of worms. Probably would try now. I'm getting better at trying new things, a little at a time.

I was in the lily boilerplate burb called Chandler last week when I wandered into the Asian grocery. Although I saw: tongue, kidney, feet, neck etc (I get that they don't waste anything) the strangest thing was that the 2nd most represented customers were black.

Taco Bell past midnight never seems to have a line shorter than 10 car deep.

I always figured it to be shoving pre with 72o.

My ex's parents are really nice people. Simple Iowa folk, with simple tastes. They were visiting us several years back and wanted mexican food. So I took em to a great authentic family owned spot. They picked and moved the food around but nothing was consumed by them. I later learned that mexican food to them = tack bell. I never took them there. Could. Not. Do. It
